Send “What happened here?” to find my muse after they’ve finished fighting a brutal fight.
Kurou groans at the question, throwing a glare in William’s direction. Surely, the dissipating feather-blades and receding Dark Realm is enough for even the former pirate to figure it out?
His back hurts. Not many figure out that his wings are rather delicate, but those that do often abuse that, to his irritation. The Hino-Enma in the abandoned parking garage was among those, though he’s sure it was a lucky guess. Maybe. Regardless, he hurts and it’s hard for him to stand. Thankfully, the undershirt survived his shift, and he stumbles over to where he had stashed his sword case and jacket. Yanks it on with a huff and leans down to grab the case, hissing at that agitating his wounds.
“Took care of an incredibly stubborn Hino-Enma,” he grumbles. “We can discuss more over food. I missed dinner for this.”

“Nothing good,” he snaps, agitation rolling off of him in waves. Goddamn Gaki, he’d never seen them gather together like that before. Takechiyo’s descriptions from centuries ago were correct, though, and he had not been prepared for how hard the apparent chief could hit.
Standing slowly, he dismisses the spectral feather-blades in his hands. He aches, had been stuck in a small alley even before the aratama swarmed into each other, unable to move as much as he needed to. Blocking and parrying were harder on him now, his age starting to catch up to him.
He shakes all of that aside. Hide’s here, now, a bit late, but he appreciates the company nonetheless. The other Shiftling likely had been caught up with cleaning up a mess nearby, but at least everything was calm now. Even if he hurt like hell from being punched into a wall.
send 🎬 + a prompt from the list below for me to write a scene between my character and an npc from their story
It’s been a long time since he’s been awake in this area, immediately noting the cold, natural but insistent, nipping at his awareness. But something stirs, tugs his attention forward. Chūson-ji? The Konjiki-dō? Why is he back here…?
Something is wrong. He can hear fighting, youkai. They’re in a frenzy, his own blood writhing with the hum in the air, matching the regret and rage left by so many corpses, a karasu tengu screeching in a blind fury, a warrior grunting, the sound of a blade slicing into flesh and bone.
He doesn’t even blink when Benkei appears at his side, both of them puppeting bodies that aren’t their quite own, merely recreations using the corpses from nearby, but are close enough to work. There’s so much regret and amrita here, and it molds into his frame, forces air into decaying lungs, and ignites a deep irritation at, once again, the people of this area leaving the dead without rest. Did the Fujiwara’s descendants not learn from their ancestors? Did his warnings fall upon deaf ears, if they were passed along at all?
There is a lone warrior out there in the snowy courtyard he remembers rendezvousing with Hide in on that fateful day. One that cuts down a final aratama, chest heaving, ashen-gold hair catching the low firelight. The amrita released flows into the foreigner’s body, and this one must go.
And so he lunges, irritated over the lack of speed this dying body has. But if fate is once again forcing him to fight against this unending greed of humanity, then he would answer, Benkei dutifully following.
He doesn’t remember much of the fight, only that it ends with a blade in the remainders of this body’s gut and him struggling to keep going, Benkei returned to rest before him once more. A red spirit appears over the foreigner’s shoulder, a voice like raindrops on water trying to soothe the unnatural fury in his veins. It works, despite him not knowing what language she speaks in, and he collapses entirely, tenuous grip on reality fading with his consciousness. He feels the water of the Interim lapping at his feet again, and he surrenders entirely, hoping this stranger will put others like him to rest again, and maybe get to the bottom of this resurging war and the stones generated by its toll.

( How does Kamui feel about his brother being in the line of extreme danger so often? )
{ On god he hates it. That’s his older sibling who has been actually killed before and was denied death, and between the curses and Ryuu being a Chosen One, he’s honestly terrified. He hides it, but losing Ryuu on top of losing so many village members, their best friend, and their parents? It would break him irrevocably.
There is an au I’ve pondered before where Ryuu dies and Kamui is forced to take his spot, alongside Ryuu’s oldest child. And his overall response is, “I’m going to kill a god so this bullshit stops, regardless of the consequences.”
Setting that aside, he does wish Ryuu took better care of himself. The LOA incident scared Kamui shitless because of how close Ryuu came to a second death. He tends to nag Ryuu a bit more now and check in on them regularly. In the context of this blog, he’s not at all pleased that due to the Dark Dragon’s corpse hanging over Tokyo, Ryuu is basically constantly monitoring the city to ensure nothing goes wrong. It’s highly dangerous, and the two have argued over the amount of time Ryuu dedicates to watching over the city. }
