It had been a few weeks since he had last been in contact with Miss Adair, and with the recent events, he hadn’t much thought about the woman at all. Things had been... bad. He had allowed himself to fall into a hole of self-pity, had spent several days at a time getting up, going to work, and coming home, not really eating or showering or enjoying life. He had stopped giving any semblance of a shit about anything, besides maybe his staff and making sure that they were functioning correctly.
It had been one of the times that he was scrolling through his phones contacts, thumb hovering over one before tossing it away. He had scrolled too far and come across Vivienne’s name, sparking... something in him. It wasn’t exactly any kind of excitement, but allowing a scientist to poke around at him might be better than simply... existing.
He was quick to pull up the contact and shoot off a message.
[Vivienne 3:27pm It occurs to me that we’ve stalled our research, Miss Adair. Are you free tonight for a bit of science? My home is empty and I’ve got plenty of alcohol to offer.]
Once the message was sent, he actually pulled himself off of his couch, started cleaning his house. The dust had collected, trash piled up. It was a bit filthy, enough to make Peter wrinkle his nose. How had he been living like this? Disgusting. Once he was satisfied with the state of his home once more, he took to making himself more presentable. A shower, a shave, he even went so far as to fix his hair to the way he had always preferred it. Though his clothing choice was a bit more tame than it might have been if he were going out, or if he were in a better mood in general. He wasn’t quite sure what the woman might want to do, after all. Loose jeans, a tee-shirt, easy to take off if necessary.
The cleaning was enough to keep him occupied long enough that he was actually surprised when the knock sounded on his door, and he pulled it open easily, an eyebrow lifting. “Evening. Won’t you come in? I do hope my home is a suitable work space for you.”
