A storm was blaring outside causing the windows to rattle. Peter had broken up tasks with Nikki during the day to prepare for it’s arrival. Tying down anything loose, double checking all enclosures were secure and the houses had proper insulation and working heaters - it all looked good by the time it started to pick up. Watching out the window he was relieved they had made it just in time. Now they would be stuck here for a few days due to the predictions and clear signs that this was going to cause the roads to be impassable.
Focusing on the sight out there he hadn’t noticed that Nikki was peeking a look at him from around the corner in the kitchen. It was open concept to the main living area. That was even open to the loft bedroom upstairs. There was also a bedroom on the first floor too. He had taken the one downstairs because that allowed him to be the first line of defense for them.
She was soon next to him and tugging on his sleeve. There was a mug in her hand, which he could smell. Steaming hot cocoa was finished and she was lightly pulling him along to the couch. His mug was there waiting for him along with some snacks she had pulled together for them. How was she able to have the energy to do all this at this point? A gentle smile appeared on his face before he got shy because she was still looking at him.
Taking a seat he fixed himself a small plate before taking a sip of the cocoa. It was amazing! Not too sweet either which he liked. Sweets weren’t something he was a fan of. He was the type to enjoy more rounded spices and flavors. This was all perfect to him.
Emerald eyes looked at her. She really was something. Though he still wasn’t sure about the whole her being a wolf thing. He was trying to be scientific about it. Like how would this mean her DNA was made up of. Where did this ability of hers come from. There was so much fascination about it that for a bit, he felt his mind was chaotic. But, one thing was sure - she was still Nikki-san to him. Well, actually, she was more than that. He wasn’t really wanting to just be friends with her. He wanted to be something more. He had talk to Ryo about it. His friend almost smacked him in the head and asked if it was still working right. According to him, what Peter was feeling was love or attraction for her. That he was wanting her to be his and this was something that could naturally happen.
Setting down the mug he bashfully looked at her, emerald hues with a curious burning in them. They were also thoughtful as he watched her, waiting for her to notice that he was. Finally, she turned to look at him and noticed his gaze. Usually she would tease him playfully but this time, she seemed to be just as shy as he was. Quietly he reached out and took her hand, a light squeeze to it as he continued to watch her expressions.
Gently he pulled her closer to him. “Thank you...” He got closer to her, eyes looking into hers, to her lips and then back up. Instead, he placed a kiss to her cheek, his hand holding hers tighter. “I-I don’t... I’ve been thinking... about you a lot. I can’t explain it well. I wanna call you Nikki. Can I?” How could he ask this in such a round about way. Forgoing the honorifics was something that for him, was a big step and in his mind obvious what he was saying.
