To Des or Dez; that is the question

Portland has an annoying habit...too many villains with portals exist around here. Desmond was in a clash with some new villain, not too much of an issue! But this masked villain was strange, he had a creature on his shoulder that seemed to be making the portals; there was too many questions about the current situation.
"It's always the same thing with these guys...can you freaks stop making portals, we still haven't caught the T-rex and we're sure she's having babies!" As always Des has only half serious with his foe.
"Rubbarband, I know better than to mess with someone like you, I've heard the legends, so why not just use a portal to send you to a different world; Chimera!" The mask turned towards the shoulder mounted creature, it's eye turns blue as Des prepared to defend from the portal before...nothing? There was a portal but it wasn't like the villains he fought back in the day, no suctions, no aggression, it just opened; even the masked man seemed confused.
'Rubbarband!' Desmond's visor lit up, indicating his AI partner was there.
"YEAH!" Des charged using his tail as a Rutter before something fell out of the portal, a human shape, and almost robotically Desmond noticed and stopped before bounding to the falling thing to catch it...it seemed to be a girl.
'Rubbarband! He's gone!' Kal-li called out.
Des would look up from his laying position seeing the pair was gone. "Damnit...hey are you okay?" Des stated.
