“It’s so busy...”
A quiet complaint from the man who stood surveying the area around him; city streets bustling with more life than usual to see the decorative light displays of the winter holiday. Even a light falling of snow wasn’t enough to deter them -- Cenric and Megumi included. Wrapped up in a thick knitted scarf, the brunet pocketed his hands for warmth.
“I didn’t think there would be this many people out here.”

The response almost immediately baffles him. Lips parted slightly; mouth hanging open as if he was looking for the right words to follow up with, Cenric gazed down at the floor for a good few seconds before finally glancing up to meet the stranger’s eyes with a look of genuine confusion.
“... That was a joke, right?”

Was it a considerably bad thing if your pet cat is even more sociable than you? Cenric couldn’t help but wonder as he watched the tubby maine coon slowly wander over to the young woman standing nearby as far as her leash -- yes, leash -- would let her. Which was apparently, far enough for the cat to sniff near the stranger’s toes before looking up at her almost expectantly. Cenric could only offer a look that was more apologetic in nature.
“Sorry... She probably just wants attention.”

Working as a barista was nothing but a series of repetitive, mindless chores, but it still managed to bring the retired hero some form of comfort. It was a simple job -- something even he couldn’t mess up, and for that he was thankful. Even better were the particularly slow days when he barely had to do anything at all, much like the one he was currently indulging in, though the chime of a bell signalling someone’s arrival was enough to tear his attention up and away from the dull gossip magazine laid out on the counter to the person who’d just walked through the door.
Quietly, Cenric studied them.
Unfamiliar... Almost dangerous looking? But if the man thought of them as a threat, he certainly didn’t show it; his face remaining stoic as ever as he spoke up.
“You want anything, or just here to get out of the bad weather?”

The man’s brows furrowed in confusion upon spotting the stranger just up ahead. It was pretty late, the sun having set beyond the horizon many hours ago, so he wasn’t really expecting to run into anyone during one of his regular sleepless night walks.
Eyes drifting from their face down to the object in their hands, Cenric let out a soft ‘huh’ of wonder. A camera? Granted, he wasn’t exactly well-versed in photography, but whatever they were trying to capture, wouldn’t it be best to wait until sunrise?
“What are you looking for out here at this hour?”

Ah, how troublesome... Why was this person moving closer to him? It was enough to put him off GOOD DEEDS for life. Such a bubbly, spirited attitude. Kouki couldn’t help but wonder if it would change once he pointed out the reason why he’d tapped the other’s shoulder in the first place. You’d expect this kind of person to be squeamish, no?
“Actually, I just wanted to let you know there’s a pretty large BUG crawling on your sleeve.”

There’s a sound of CONFUSION as the child suddenly grabs at his bandaged hand, pressing a kiss against the ( thankfully clean ) cloth as if it would right every wrong in an instant. For some reason, he couldn’t help but remember the way his grandmother would do the very same thing whenever he was young.
“Ah... Ahaha. Yes, I feel much better now, thanks to you.”
Lifting the same hand, he ruffles the child’s hair.
