There was never any intention to lead a pack - that was beyond any want he’d ever had. He couldn’t, however, pinpoint when that had changed. When he’d taken one lost, wound soul under his wing - and when it decided to grow into the closest thing he’d ever call family. Did he regret his decision? Most days, when they were complicated, but it didn’t sway him to abandon. The sound of his door opening pulled his attention from the window, over to the figure.
“The moon will be full soon.” Old habit died hard for him, and the sooner he could get his people out of the city, the better he’d feel once it did come. His rag-tag group may have been small, but he would have been a fool to assume their damage was on the same scale.
