Missing you, Sparkles <3
What if we were to look at fire and water as powers of will.
By all laws of nature, water is stronger than fire. But this holds true to a certain degree. When the fire is hot enough, it does not matter. Water becomes weak against it. It becomes hot. It becomes steam. It no longer holds power when fire has become too strong.
But water can stop fire even before it begins. Fire cannot catch on drenched wood. It cannot travel over lakes and oceans without aid. Even a raging flame can become extinguished if enough water and force drives it down at its base.
Fire could be will of rage. Of anger. It burns, it’s hot, it’s intense. But it can also offer light. Offer comfort. It’s a candle by the bedside and warmth in the hearth. It keeps the dark away.
Water could be will of resilience. It adapts, it changes. It can be calm, it can be soothing. It speaks of promised peace, gentle rocking of a boat, it cools the skin and quenches thirst. But it is also fickle. It’s abrupt. It can be a raging sea, a tidal wave of destruction. It can take down buildings. Wash away homes. What once quenched your thirst now fills your lungs.
Both can be destructive. Both can be healing.
What if you were one of these opposing forces, and it was your will that decided the outcome. Whether you were fire or water, if your will wavers, that’s it. If you see the odds and lose faith in yourself, even if you were supposedly stronger than what you’re up against, it doesn’t matter. You’ve lost the fight. The crushing weight of defeat overcomes you. You’re not strong enough. You relent. You give. And you’re gone.
But if your will was strong, if you were determined, the odds do not matter to you. Defeat is not an option. You keep going. You strive on. And because of your perseverance, you’re suddenly stronger than that which opposes you. They cannot stop you. They may try and they may slow you down, but unless they’re able to match a will as strong as yours, they are powerless.
Now. If these points hold true, ask yourself this:
Are you willing to heal? Or to destroy?
I wonder if she dreams. And if she does, does she dream about me?
no, there ain’t no rest for the wicked
until we close our eyes for good
