i appreciate pulled back hair keith way too much, and i feel like he’d wear it that way more than they show in canon? just pragmatically speaking, of course ; it’d keep it out of the way with blade and castle stuff, but probably not much while in the lions and paladin-ing? because heck if he’s going to have the ponytail holder pressed against the back of his head with the helmet on ( and that kind of serves a similar function anyway ).

keith loathes it when people dance around subjects, don’t directly mentioning things, try to sugarcoat them, whatever. it doesn’t change anything, and it makes it seem more distant. he also feels like it kind of lessens it sometimes, too? ”what happened with your dad/ shiro/ the lion/ back there/ ad nauseum.” no, be upfront ; be honest ; just say it. “after your dad died. after your mom left. after shiro disappeared. after we can’t form voltron anymore. after the lion crashed. after you tried to/ did [thing]. after [thing].”

#|| development #along the same vein he isn't one to hold back contesting when he thinks whatever happened is different #and vocally so #and there are a few other facets to this i'll get to at some point or another too

matt’s biggest motivator in the time between galra capture and reuniting with pidge is his family: 1) in that their dad is still out there somewhere, and they need to find him; and 2) in that doing whatever he can to help keep zarkon and the galra empire as far away from earth as possible is more important than making it home. a galra empire away from earth means a galra empire away from pidge and their mom.
