Nightmares
//He doesn’t have nightmares per se (or maybe just doesn’t consider them nightmares); but he has a deeply rooted fear that one day, his lies will consume him. However that’s not what he’s concerned about.
Leave the conman to die for all he cares. It was his fault from the beginning. He knew this was coming.
The real problem is, he knows won’t be able to help Efina when that happens. Because, does a father really want his child, of whatever age, to risk their life to fix his mistakes? Not likely.
