Kuro sighed, his head popping out of Mahiru's backpack to get a better whiff of something in the hot food case of the convenient store. There were too many people around for him to talk, so telling him what to pick up was out of the question. Instead he patted him on the shoulder with a tiny paw, trying to silently direct his attention to the fried chicken and cheese cutlet calling his name.
Traveling around with Kuro had become normal for Mahiru, and any time he had to be without Kuro was now weirder than it had been. More lonely. When he had picked up what seemed to be just a plain black cat, he had never expected the ways things to be how they had played out. But now? In an odd way, he appreciated it. Kuro could be a pain sometimes, but he had grown a lot from where they started, and while Mahiru wouldn't outright admit it, he wouldn't want things any different now.
Mahiru had paid no mind to the food case he was walking by in the store, mainly having just chosen to stop to get a drink and a snack for the two of them for when it was safe for Kuro to turn back to a human form. Feeling the paw, Mahiru stopped to glance at Kuro before noting the direction. Ah. That must be what he was wanting, noting the only thing that seemed it would be of interest is the package of the cutlet on the hot bar.
Giving a chuckle, he shifts the items in his hands before walking over and picking up the package, shifting to glance at Kuro when no one was directly around to see, quietly asking if this was indeed what Kuro had been trying to point out. If anything, it looked like it would be the least of a pain to eat compared to the other items.
