Often described as “The Golden Boy”, Erik King lived a well-rounded middle class life in suburbia. Born to two elementary school teachers, Erik was destined to be one as well - even dressing up as a teacher for Halloween five years in a row before it became ‘uncool’.
Life has a crazy way of changing things. At the age of nine, Erik’s father passed away unexpectedly of what was to be called ‘cancer’ (though he’d later learn the truth). Erik’s mom, distraught, moved the family from Boston to New York City in order to change careers and take care of her young son as a single parent.
Erik’s mother, Olivia, worked two jobs - one as a teacher’s aide, another as a dispatcher for the New York Police Department. Growing up around police officers, most of whom were former military men, influenced Erik.
The summer he turned eighteen years old, Erik signed up to become a Marine. After serving twelve years, Erik was retired medically as a Gunnery Sergeant and started his career with the NYPD shortly after - his mother still a dispatcher there.
His encounter with the supernatural began during a routine traffic stop in the middle of the night. That night, Erik’s life was changed forever.
