The situation would've looked dire to the outsiders who could see all the pieces in play: a villain stuck in his ways on one side, and someone trying to move on with their life on the other side.

Neither of the men were as privy.

(The villain a little more so, perhaps.)

So, who could have expected such an easy dispelling of tension when the smaller man spoke next?

"That is understandable," He noted the Purrloin (cat-like Pokemon were familiar to him, how could he not?) before properly maintaining eye contact with N, "I only ask so I know I'm not mistaken. If you are "N" Harmonia, I would appreciate any information on the weaknesses of Ghetsis Harmonia."

That was rather to-the-point, wasn't it? Despite the odd, odd energy of him, he spoke completely genuine.

He was close to Veilstone now, walking along a path he'd walked all his life what seemed like eons ago. Through Hearthome, through Mount Coronet (which caused hair on the back of his neck to raise), up to Solaceon Town.

Someone tended to the graves outside of Lost Tower and Cyrus couldn't help but stop and watch. Some feeling pulled at the hollowness in his chest, threatening to leak inside and force him to confront 'sentiment'.

He needed to move on before it could do just that, but his feet moved him before his mind recognised it.

He found himself in front of the attendant of the graves, staring down at them but not quite looking at them.

"Why do you think ghosts stay here?" He didn't realise he was not speaking in his own tongue.

"I'm attending a conference." Simple and to-the-point, on brand for Cyrus despite the total breakthrough that preceded it. If he had any feelings surrounding his asking for help he didn't show them, and his organising his bag provided an excellent excuse, as well.

He raised his head when the first half of his books were situated, extending his hand to grab nearly the rest of his burden from Rose. One could've assumed he'd been too focused on his task to look his ...friend in the eye, but he slipped-up in allowing their gazes to connect for one quick moment. It was enough to betray his self-consciousness, and maybe how deliberate his actions were.

Bag filled to capacity, Cyrus straightened to face Rose head-on and bow in thanks. He gently slips the last book from Rose's hold.

"-- A general history conference, I need to cover all possibilities with my literature."

He hesitated, then. No change in expression or tone when he forced out a:

"Thank you."
