@truethes
Leon's end had been a bloody spectacle. It was far from the first time Mukuro Ikusaba had seen death. Such things came with the territory for a soldier. What bothered her was that it was the first of many to come. She wasn't naive enough to believe that Leon would be the last one. This was a battle, though not the kind she was accustomed to. In battle, mercy and kindness were the first things to die.
Everyone was acting innocent, but everyone was probably already planning how to backstab each other.
She was alone with her thoughts in the empty dining hall. She'd made a habit of avoiding the group as much as she could. People tended to be suspicious of her at the best of times, and right now she was likely the only person at Hope's Peak Academy who already had blood on her hands. She'd always suspected people could tell what she was somehow. A killer.
She laid her head down on the cool surface of the table, closing her eyes. She'd always felt alone to some extent, but never so much as she did here. On the battlefield, she had her comrades. Everywhere else she had her sister. Junko. The last thing she remembered before arriving at this school was leaving the frontline to return to her. Was she okay on her own?
She wanted to escape this place and find Junko, but she knew she couldn't. She was certainly strong enough to kill anyone here, except maybe Sakura. She wasn't cunning enough to kill someone and get away with it. All there was for her to do was avoid being killed and wait. Whether for rescue or to die, she wasn't sure.
When she opened her eyes, she saw someone had stepped into the room. She'd been so lost in thought, she hadn't heard him. At first she assumed whoever this was had intended to kill her while she was distracted, but she quickly thought better of it when she realized it was Makoto Naegi. After everything he said during the class trial, she didn't expect him to be much of a threat. That being said, something about him bothered her. He was looking her dead in the eyes.
Nobody ever held eye contact with her besides her sister. She'd always assumed it was due to some innate prey instinct. They could look into her cold, dead eyes and could tell that she was a predator. Not him, though. She averted her gaze, lifting her head from the table.
"... Its just me in here. You should probably go."
@more-than-a-princess said “you should have told me this was going on. i would have put a stop to it the second i heard about it.”
"Oh really? How, exactly?"
Izuru Kamakura, or Hajime Hinata as he used to be called, had hoped he could continue on with the facade that he had been cured, but he should have known the princess was not one to underestimate.
He doesn't mean to sound cruel, but he truly believed that if he couldn't restore himself under his own power, no one could.
He was Ultimate Hope. His efforts to use the Neo World Program to restore himself and the members of Ultimate Despair to their former selves was mostly successful. However, despite his memory of his time as Hajime Hinata returning, he was still Ultimate Hope. He was still twisted beyond recognition.
He had a feeling someone would catch on sooner or later that he hadn't really changed back.
"Don't waste my time and yours dwelling on what can't be fixed. I am what I am. Your energy is better served elsewhere, Sonia."
A massive Handyman had been following the so-called False Shepherd. He didn't believe a damn word that the bearded bastard said about prophesy and fate....and he trusted less what the ratfink spout out.
He wanted to see who this guy was for himself. The other Handymen were terrified of him....and it was up to Richy to solve their problems.
Booker had made a point to have Elizabeth hide once he noticed he was being followed. He feigned ignorance of the lumbering figure's presence. The hulking Handyman wasn't exactly subtle, so he'd caught on quite early to its presence. The other ones he'd seen had attacked him on sight, so he had no idea what this one was thinking.
Getting a safe distance away from Elizabeth's hiding spot, Booker racked his shotgun. It was the biggest gun he had, so it would have to do if things got violent. It weren't exactly normal in this town for folk to try and talk things out.
"You got somethin' to say, pal?" He called in a confrontational tone, "If you're planning to kill me, I hope you've got backup."
He rested his shotgun on his shoulder, trying to demonstrate his confidence. The truth of the matter is that if he couldn't drop the bastard before he closed the distance, he could probably break every bone in Dewitt's body.
A scowl on his face, he waited for his pursuer to make his move.
The Crystal Exarch very rarely rested. In fact, he never slept. Siphoning energy from the tower allowed him to resist sleeping for some time. He did not have time to sleep. Not when he still hadn't been able to summon his target.
Nevertheless.... He can feel Evie's gaze on him. Perhaps she had noticed something. He had been secretive but he feared he had let his guard down. He did not know how much she knew from her time WITH Firmian.
"Is something amiss?" She had been a useful ally and he could only pray this was the start of her second chance at life. Yet saving both worlds came first and he would not survive to see if her being here helped restore her in the Source.
"If there is something you need, please do not hesitate to inform me."
Evie rested her chin on her fingers. For her, even such a simple sensation was a bit blissful. To live with no feeling, with no body of your own was an exercise in barely maintaining one's sanity. At her weakest moments, she prayed for the twelve to end it. Even to Azim and Nhaama at times, when she recalled them. Yet, here she was. Still a world away from Firmian, but very much whole and herself.
The Crystal Exarch had, by accident, given her some semblance of her life back. An unprecedented feat on Hydaelyn; or more accurately, the Source. It was humbling, if not a bit fascinating. She was a natural talent at the arcane arts, understanding the movements and manipulation of aether intimately when other children were learning times tables. Even she failed to understand how he had managed it.
When she was with Firmian, her understanding of aether expanded, as she saw the world more through aether than her own eyes. That afforded her a rather unique perspective, seeing the world as a voidsent might. It wasn't inconceivable that the First could have its own Crystal Tower, but the aetheric signature of the place was identical to the one she'd seen on the Source. Moreover, the Crystarium itself was built using what looked like old Allagan tech.
And then there was the Exarch himself. His manner of dress was also quite Allagan in appearance. It was curious. Too curious for her to ignore.
"I'm curious. You tell your people I reside in your homeland. Pray tell, what land might that be? Somewhere outside Norvrandt, perhaps?"
If he was indeed Allagan, she would surely have cause to doubt his intentions a bit. Although if his ends were to bring Firmian here, she would hesitate to deny him that.
@aikidoheroine asked:
"Hello, Mukuro! I don't see you around too often. What brings you to the gym?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why was she being so friendly?
Never mind the fact she was immediately using her first name, it was strange for anyone to approach the soldier at all. She was used to being avoided by most people. She imagined that they could sense death on her due to what she was.
Despite all of that, this girl just walked right up to her like it was nothing. Like she was just a normal girl. She didn't even know how to react. She just stood there staring at Tenko as though she were an alien speaking in a language she couldn't comprehend.
"I... Well... Its a gym, so... I was thinking I'd... You know."
Truthfully, she'd had a particularly nasty conversation with her sister earlier that day and she was looking to blow off some steam. It wasn't exactly easy for her to indulge in her talent like others did. She hoped to run some drills, maybe practice her knifework a bit.
"...Training."
"You haven't got a fucking clue." from Roi to Firmian.

"Oh, please. By all means, Coello. Enlighten me. What is it that I don't understand?"
The mages of Eorzea were so far behind the scholars he was used to back home. The trouble was that all mages were, to a greater or lesser extent, arrogant know-it-alls. At least the students of the academy actually had the knowledge to back up that attitude.
Roi Coello was the worst type of mage. All arrogance and the pursuit of power with no love for the craft. He was just like Firmian when he was younger. Magic was just a means to an end. Evie had pulled him out of that mindset, showed him that magic was more than a replacement for a blade.
He felt a pull to impart that same lesson on his ignorant colleague, even if he did constantly rebuff his attempts.
"I can all but guarantee I know more about magic than you do. Unless there's something else I'm missing. Please, share with the class."
❛ They can take your power, but they can't take your knowledge. ❜ from Vittorio to Adam
@styxisms | [Meme not found]
"They're the same thing as far as I'm concerned."
Adam had been the new guy once. If it hadn't have been for his fellow survivors he never would have made it this far. Now he was in their position. Guiding scared, desperate people through the fog.
Though when it came to knowledge about this place, he hadn't met anyone who had more of it than Vittorio. He'd been here longer than Adam had even been alive. In any other situation, he'd have a million questions for a man who'd seen so much. Right now, they had to focus a bit more on keeping each other alive. He'd have to save his curiosity for later.
Though, given the nightmare he found himself in, he was grateful that his curiosity was still with him. It was so easy to lose yourself when all hope seems lost.
