Today, something different: a name with one of my LEAST favorite characters! The name 小貫 is usually read Onuki or Konuki, potentially Kotsura, Ozura, or Onuke.
小 is read ちい.さい, こ, お, さ, or ショウ. It means little or small.
貫, which I have always resented for being difficult to write prettily, is read つらぬ.く, ぬ.く, ぬき, or カン. It means pierce or penetrate—look at the slashing horizontal line in the top radical. It can also mean brace. In historical contexts, カン might be a unit of weight (~3.75 kg) or of currency; today, it's a counter for pieces of sushi. Yum.
