“Let me help you,” Laurel said, dragging a chair over so that she can sit behind Dinah and reaching for the first aid kit and taking the needle and thread. Looking up her eyes fall on a mark on Dinah’s shoulder blade, one that she’d never noticed mostly because she’d never looked there but the mark was familiar. She recognized it because it was the same as the one that she’d seen in the mirror many times before on herself.

She shakes her head and is thankful that Dinah is turned away from her and didn’t see her expression, eyes wide in obvious surprise. “Is that your soulmark?” she asked, attempting to be casual about it.

Eyes squinted at the man. “And what exactly are you going to do if I don’t?” From personal experience she’s found that taking orders from strange men rarely if ever works out.
