@brazenbaela // continued from HERE
everything that had happened in the past few months had been a huge shock to addam. claiming a dragon or rather the dragon claiming him had only been the catalyst. but he never stopped trying to do his best. he stayed loyal to the side he believed in even if people thought there was a chance he had swayed. he'd been grateful for what had basically fallen into his lap. he'd been just as grateful to get to know the other parts of his extended family. to be accepted in this world felt good, especially knowing he still had his brother by his side.
despite all the graciousness he's felt there is an immense sadness that has settled. sure he still alyn in his life, but he'd watched far too many lives be lost. one of the hardest ones lost had been his dragon seasmoke. their bond had been brief, but losing him had felt like a piece of him had broken off and flew away in the wind. but once he had spotted her he felt relief. maybe this had been a bit of silly decision, but in the moment it had felt right. a simple hug, even from behind, as he both sought comfort and hoped to give it as well.
there were truly only a couple people in this realm that he'd ever do this with. one of those people being his brother since they'd grown up by each other's sides. however, when baela hadn't pulled away he ended up linking his hands together. he hadn't expected it, but her hands on top of his made him relax. they both had equal burns and scars from fighting. and now it all felt a badge of survival. they still had at least that to show for.
the talk of her dragon made him reminisce of the time with seasmoke. not everything had been about fighting. that first flight and the subsequent one to dragonstone. hearing that baela believed moondancer, her dragon, would've liked him he nodded a couple times. he had seen moondancer in brief passing, but even in that short time he had thought her to have been a beautiful dragon. "i miss them, but i'm also proud to have known them," his voice was soft as he managed to get some words out.
addam gave a gentle squeeze in response to her not wanting him to let go just yet. in truth he didn't want to leave anyways. alyn was off dealing with other things, probably velaryon business. but he wanted to make sure baela was okay. as okay as one can be after what they've endured from these battles. "i'll stay," he kept his voice like before, "as long as you wish." and he meant every word of that.
