ah. hello. i believe this is a barn owl.. correct?
Since you have owls in your Tumblr name do you have a favorite. I think burrowing owls are neat personally.
i received two asks for this specific question, so i can only imagine it's something people are very interested in. i'm not exactly an expert on owls, despite my interest in them. i've always felt more comfortable sticking to history as my main subject. so, my reasoning for my favorite may be slightly surface level, or even... shallow, compared to what a proper zoologist or ornithologist could give.
but, i think i would have to go with the long-eared owl, or... cat owl, as some call them. i believe the name comes from one of their calls sounding like a cat..? they are very cute. their long ears certainly contribute to that for me. i have yet to spot one here, but i have seen them quite a few times during their non-breeding season around my home in tsennacommacah... i believe being familiar with something like this can make you more fond of it; such as, having certain common flowers grown around you making you far more appreciative of them than the average person, or "inheriting" our taste in music from our parents. the fact that i've seen this owl before fairly up close certainly makes me more inclined to it as a favorite, even though i appreciate every species of owl. though, that's slightly off topic... it's something i find interesting.
here are some photos, if you don't feel compelled to find them yourself... the internet is very good for this kind of thing.
