I was thinking about some events regarding Jay’s life -- Whether being a deep web personality also meant him being a possible serial killer that have targeted the innocent / particular targets that have under his skin to commut such crime, and It’s been something on my mind for a good while. I previously associated him as a sociopathic character, but I’ve never been truly interested in that concept to begin with. Maybe indenial sociopathic individuals would be closely similar personality-wise as Jay, but I’ve always have seen him rather as a morally corrupt character that comes to a lengthy redemption arc / simply is seen as a morally corrupt character without the need to brush off his past choices completely. Sure, being shot in the temple as a seven (7) year old may have altered brain functionality, but It doesn’t necesarilly mean to the point of becoming a sociopath. He’s been a natural-born killer because of his kind, not to mention that his mother is a GHOUL, that are of a species that DO consume flesh and cannot change their diet to alternatives. Being the son of a dracula and a ghoul may have altered him to be a more threatening kind in comparison to his sister Iris -- Who only happens to be a dhampyr, a child of a dracula and a human woman and can live a life without the need of consumption of flesh or have remote desire to kill. With that being put out, I have been also working on the reasons behind his change in profession and what convinced him otherwise. Jayden Erblindet is notorious to be firm on his decisions, unless proven with a convincing argument. I’ve compilled a list of reasons that have been both his personal thoughts that he took in mind if he pursued a serial-killer lifestyle and things that have been spoken by the same mercenary organization he signed up with in the end: - Organization implied that he may be a potential target in the future, depending on his stealth while performing the crimes; the price of his bounty might increase and motivate mercenaries to be on radar on a daily basis. This can cause his secretive or anonymous life come to public with time. - Same organization provides rewarding legal pay, allowing Jay to qualify as a legal citizen that pays taxes through this work and being associated with the military force; carry a particular job title without having a questionable record of no work compared to working as a solo-murderer. - Less hassle for forged documentation - Will access locations that the general public cannot access, both to his benefit and both allowing him to explore newer locations to spur his motivation to work this very field - Access to training stamina, gain body mass and receive proper assistance to improve his sniping abilities (to which he desires to improve, for he has a hunting hobby as well) - The organization will assist him on a secondary opportunity to garner an aviator licence. A field he desired for so long but failed to obtain due to complications within the final exams. ( This being one of the key options that motivated him to consider becoming a mercenary. ) - Was told that with majority of murderers that have come to light; all faced some burn out with what they have done and eventually come to be caught. While this reason doesn’t necessarily have him reconsider, It had him realize that coming to light as a serial killer will permanently hinder his chances of ever becoming a citizen that can come to streets without being known. While his ego is rather high and the attention may be fulfilling, but negative attention from the public can pester him at ease and have him isolate himself instead. Such realization became a convincing reason after Jay thought about it more. - The possibility that his sisters reputation would be at harm over his choices. Nothing defines more suspicion if not a sister that involves herself as a forensics scientist and later detective; only to be revealed that she is an eldest to a sibling that comes to light as a killer. This may hurt her reputation and spur suspicion for becoming an accomplice. ( Which would be more or less true for a brief period. ) If that would come true, Iris would be forced to resign from her desired field; If not even legally change her last last name -- As the Erblindet name carries value within the family, It may bring further conflict If that were to occur. While younger Jay might be spiteful to his father for time and would life off the thrill of the anger from that man, his sister had done no harm and always more-or-less enabled his antics and helped him plenty when he was young.
