Deadlock didn’t even have full control of his body let alone a proper understanding of what was happening. One moment he’s chatting with a group of mech’s - quite obviously drunk - and the next, he’s corned by them. He has his gun already drawn by the time one of them pulls out a knife, the other three taking out weapons that Deadlock couldn’t even see.
The next thing he knows is someone’s grabbed him, keeping tight grip on his arm, forcing him back, and all he can do to break free is try and fire at the mech now behind him.
And-
( Click Click Click ) His gun’s out of ammo. “Dammit,” Deadlock cursed under his breath.
A growl escapes his intake, optics alight with anger. There wasn’t even a moment of hesitation as he charges forward, arm quickly wrapping around one of the smaller mech’s neck, gun pointed at his helm. He knew the weapon was useless at this point, but he was mostly relying on the fact that they didn’t.
“Take another step forward and I shoot ‘im!” Deadlock snapped his denta, pulling the mech’s back against his chest.
Have a couple of ideas. Don't really mind who writes them. The first one is Kate cheering up a sad Vicky by introducing her to Alice the bunny.
“Come on ‘Tori, please? I just want to show you–”
“Kate I said no! I’ve never failed anything in my life this is huge! I’m not leaving my room.”
Victoria kept her eyes firmly on the wall, curled up on her bed, even as she felt weight lift off the bed as Kate left. She let out a small sigh, oddly disappointed Kate actually left. Pulling out her phone, she scrolled through Facebook for several minutes until she heard the door creak open. Stubbornly, she stayed put, refusing to acknowledge Kate coming back. The slight squeak of springs accompanied Kate taking her spot back, but what Victoria didn’t expect was a small white bunny to shuffle around the bed into her line of vision. Drawing back for a second, she reached out and hugged the bunny against her chest, petting it’s ears and avoiding eye contact with Kate. Even so, she couldn’t ignore the smile in Kate’s voice as she introduced them.
“Victoria, this is Alice. Alice, this is Victoria. Do… You want to feed her?”
Kate just smiled, watching Victoria gradually relax and sit up as she petted Alice’s fur. Tucking her long blond hair back behind her ear, she pulled the bag of carrots she’d brought with her up onto the bed. She and Victoria proceeded to feed Alice in peaceful silence, until Kate got up. At Victoria’s questioning, she assured Victoria she’d be right back, and she was, with her sketchpad and pencils. When gentle shushing at Victoria’s complaints didn’t work, Kate smiled mischievously.
it all happened so fast. the struggle, shots fired off, yelling, her back hitting a wall, a gun pointed at the bright yellow insignia on her chest, her freezing up in fear. thankfully, a red blur managed to pull his trigger before the other could pull his, leaving him a crumpled bloody pile on the ground and the terrified bat to merely stare at him with wide blue eyes.
‘don’t look at me like that, bg, i just saved your life.’ he huffed, putting his own gun away once more.
‘j-jason--’
‘i know you don’t like the killing shit, but you don’t have to give me that whole timid act.’
‘you d-don’t get it, that’s not--’
‘what don’t i get?’ his voice was angrier this time, causing barbara to shrink back further against the wall. ‘i know that you still think that i’m this bad guy, but you can’t deny that i just saved your ass.’
jason furrowed his eyebrows together as he turned around, knowing he’d say something he’d regret. but when he heard a soft sob and her sinking to her knees, he came to a realization that was far too late.
he didn’t hesitate as he yanked his helmet off and knelt before her, holding her tear-stained cheeks in his hands. god, he was such a jerk for not seeing this earlier and he had to make it up to her before those big blue eyes made him cry too. ‘i’m so sorry, barb, i’m a goddamn idiot. the guy’s gone now, you’re safe.’
the redhead gave a shaky nod, holding onto him as tightly as she could and they stayed like that for almost the rest of the night.

they had to get out of town. that was a must given they were both well known enough that no one would let gotham’s first and second favorite redheads ( though it was undecided who was the first ) enjoy a nice night out without causing some alarm. so they found a motel and as many goofy movies and ivy-approved snacks as they could find.
‘do you think he knows?’ barbara murmured as she shifted in her dark purple, silky robe, her bare legs intertwining with pamela’s.
‘i’m sure he does and i’m sure he’s livid that his beloved baby bat has been swept off her feet by one of his worst enemies.’
‘i can already see him pacing and brooding now.’
laughter fills the air, carefree and bright. they could never do this in gotham and there was just something so euphoric about it. they quickly settled down before they were curled up against each other once more, gently heaving chests pressed together. pamela’s light green hand found it’s way to the younger woman’s much softer face, cupping her cheek in far gentler gesture than she had ever shown most before.
‘what am i thinking?’ she murmured, running her fingers through her soft red hair.
‘iv- pam, i don’t really want to think about this right now. i just want to enjoy this.’
‘of course, darling.’ her serious demeanor vanished, replaced with a more compassionate as she pressed her lips down to barbara’s waiting ones.

he’d always joke about how he didn’t plan to grow old and he’d get a good chuckle out of it and she told him with all the delicate grace she had to ‘shut up, todd.’ now it seemed like it was almost a dream that they’d made it this long, that they could enjoy what it was like to be just as normal as anyone but still be completely them.
barbara slowly settled beside him on the couch, handing him his coffee as they did every morning and never got tired of it. her once vividly red hair had lost some of his radiance as it was slowly beginning to fade to white, but he’d talked her out of dying it with his signature smirk and his insistence that she’d still be his red, regardless of her hair color.
‘james is bringing the grandkids up tomorrow and you aren’t allowed to tell them any more of your scary stories. i got a call about his kids being scared that the red hood mask was going to come and get them.’
‘i should give him one of my old ones to put under their bed when he really wants to scare the shit out of them.’ eyes roll behind her large glasses.
‘you need to watch your language too. i don’t want to hear our grandchildren swearing like sailors.’
‘someone has to teach them, barbie.i can’t not take advantage of being old and senile.’
she rolled her eyes once more and rested her head on jason’s shoulder, taking a sip from her own mug. they weren’t perfect, but she didn’t care much for that anyway.
MY DAD’S A POLICE OFFICER AND HE ALWAYS COMES HOME COMPLAINING ABOUT HIS DUMB NEW PARTNER WHO’S STRAIGHT OUT OF TRAINING AND WHEN THEY FINALLY HIT IT OFF HE COMES OVER FOR DINNER AND FUCK I DIDN’T KNOW HE WAS SO HOT AU
‘god i can’t believe they partnered me with the puppy. he’s practically young enough to be my son. if i see him give that dopey smile on more time, i swea-’
barbara was tuning him out now– eventually her father would get tired of ranting and their dinner would either end in peaceful silence or small talk about her schoolwork.
she almost felt bad for the guy. if he was as infuriating as her father made him out to be, he wouldn’t last more than a month.
but he did. and that meant her father would still be complaining.
‘we had the puppy go in and play good cop, but he just went in there and complimented the prostitute on her make-up. what a waste of time.’ jim murmured into his coffee cup, clearly deciding to skip a simple greeting.
the redhead only responded with a shrug, stirring her own drink. note to self: don’t ask dad to lunch unless prepared to spend hours talking about his work.
‘he sounds nice, at least.’
‘too nice.’
over time, she learned a little more about the puppy. he had a name and it wasn’t ‘the puppy’, though she’d never heard her father call him anything else. he had dark hair that apparently never seemed combed and from what she could glean, he was very good with the ladies.
however, barbara had yet to see him. every time she’d gone to see her father he seemed out on a coffee run or something like that. she was just thankful it seemed that they were getting along.
‘the puppy is coming for dinner tonight.’ her father piped up as he came in, seeing that she was curled up with her latest book– something about dragons and princesses.
‘i see. so you two are buddies now?’ an amused smirk played on her lips.
‘something like that.’
that was a relief. no more complaining from him on that front. she got up to give him a peck on the cheek before going to her bedroom to throw on a sweater. a few moments later, the doorbell rang.
oh god, he was beautiful. nothing her father had said could ever prepare him for the sight of him. she must have been staring, because he moved forward with a wide grin, taking her hand to shake.
‘you must be barbara. your dad has told me all about you. i’m dick, dick grayson.’ his voice was playful and bright, nothing like the gruffness of the other officers her father had worked with.
‘r-right, that’s me. it’s good to finally meet you.’ wow, his handshake was strong too. for a moment she found herself staring again, her eyes moving from his broad shoulders to his slim, but muscled arms.
dinner was as awkward as she could have expected it to be, filled with cheerful chattiness from dick while barbara was just trying to keep her eyes focused on her plate instead of those pale blue eyes of his. now the nickname of puppy made a lot more sense. ‘barbara here has been focused on her studies and work, so she hasn’t had much time to date. not that i mind. it’s stress off my mind.’ ‘sounds like it.’ out of the corner of her eye, she could have sworn she saw him wink. was there any proper way to tell your dad you really want to date his partner?
