arlington hospital, 7:30pm (@genandcoke)
The start of an overnight was always unpleasant, no matter how well-rested or otherwise happy Heath was. It didn’t help that he was thoroughly distracted by everything that we happening with Denna, and wanted more than anything to be spending time with her instead of at the hospital. But there was no way around it, and the promise of tomorrow night was well worth it, the very thought probably the thing that was going to get them through the night. As well as the large amount of cold brew they had brought with them to their shift.
Heath had already changed into his scrubs, dropped his stuff off in his locker, and was now heading to the breakroom to put the near gallon of coffee he had brought with him into the fridge. Part of them had been hoping the room would be clear, but when they opened the door, their eyes immediately landed on the mop of curly hair. At least it was Gen and not one of the other residents. She was always nice to them, despite everything, and they didn’t so much mind having her around. Also she always managed to get their labwork pushed up if needed, which was very appreciated.
“Hey, Gen. Didn’t realize you were in tonight. Are they keeping you late?” they asked, giving her a smile as they went to the fridge.
