“i’m pregnant,” there’s hesitance in your voice and your heart falls to the pit of your stomach when you see kuroo’s smile falter.
you’re sure this isn’t what he expected at all when you told him you had something to talk about, you wondered if he thought that you were gonna break up with him because of how serious your tone was, but now it honestly looks like he was the one contemplating to end it.
his eyes widen, “what?”
you bite down your lip hard, unable to find the words to further explain your situation. you forgot when your period stopped coming or when the morning sickness started but after taking the numerous tests you bought last night, it only confirmed what you were worried about.
“okay — let’s think about this — we can stop for a year, college can wait for us right? just to get us used to the kid and we can—” he’s pacing, the tone of his voice getting faster the more he rambles and it’s your turn to show surprise at his words.
“no, kuroo, you have a sports scholarship, you can’t give that up,” there’s tears brimming your eyes and you barely stop your fingers from quivering as he looks at you as if he had any choice.
you guys were so close to graduating, so close to getting what you both wanted to finally start your adult lives. you never thought it’d end up like this.
the trips you planned together in between semesters are out the window, and it’s all your fault.
you sigh, “i’m sorry, i really am— fuck— but i’m not letting you throw away your volleyball career over this!”
“it’s a sport! this is a kid!” he’s almost yelling, the obvious red dusting on his face matching the slight shine on his eyes.
“it’s your life— how can you say that?” you feel like vomiting at how this didn’t go the way you wanted it to but then again you didn’t have an ideal for it anyways.
kuroo stares at you, “this can be my life too,”
he sits down next to you, taking in a breath for what seemed to be the first time after you told him. his eyes are straight keen on the carpet but his hand tightly gripped on yours.
“we can do it, right?” he briefly looks at you, and you force a curt nod before he gazes back down on the floor.
he mumbles, barely loud enough for you to understand, “as long as we’re together.”
and maybe that would’ve worked. as long as you two had each other, maybe you didn’t have to sacrifice so much. but you knew better, and unfortunately, better was a hand written letter telling him that your mom arranged trips for you to go to boarding school abroad until the situation passes.
