It was such a rare occurrence, the sudden stab of pain that rippled through his chest. But every now and again, if a sudden wave of insanity appeared either in the world or inside himself, it felt like his chest was being sliced open all over again. With the kishin defeated and the mad blood settled, Soul was keenly aware it was coming from within.
A terrifying thought. One he never expressed openly. Any fear he had was quickly washed away by Maka’s strength and her own cleansing wavelength. But Kid was different. They only had a few practice sessions resonating, and even then Soul could feel the power pulling him. Kid was strong, who knew what would happen if the two of them dipped into their madness together.
Soul wanted to figure it out. He wanted to view it like a chess match, anticipating and countering moves. He didn’t want to bother Kid with it but he didn’t want to be caught off guard. The conundrum had him spending less and less time with Kid outside of their responsibilities. Soul sighed. “I hope Kid doesn’t think anything about this.” he said aloud to himself.
