i do agree it would be much more compelling and make their points about misogyny better if rhaenyra was allowed to have actual policies or a philosophy of rule and then the misogyny interfaces with that. what does it mean for a woman to have those and actually be on the cusp of acquiring the power to potentially enact them? again they sort of gesture at this occasionally, with rhaenyra giving mysaria a position and listening to her advice, her now possibly radically divergent religious belief. but very very glancingly, it’s just so unconvincing and incredibly inconsistent and confused. because they don’t know how to write politics, because this one track “monarchy…bad?” Message will not allow them to examine the differences between styles and philosophies of rule even in a system of monarchy, differences that had real effect on the course of history and on the average human life lived under it, because other social systems cannot have their own political cultures - their political cultures are about what they can say about our own perspective, via our political judgement upon them, only. anyway this is another way them suddenly writing this bizarre total incompetence and ignorance on rhaenyra’s part - the girl who once said she would make a “new order” has apparently not thought once in the intervening two decades about what she might mean by that and this is maybe supposed to be a statement on power in itself or something, about how everyone in power has no idea what they or doing or actual ideologies or willpower or vision but are just Stupid and this is pupprtedly a deep and radical political perspective - makes it a less interesting story. and yes a less interesting story about misogyny too.

Zoro was facing another weird door. There were golden scales on it and on each scale, was a diamond, along with a rhombus that was on the scales. The rhombus was drawn in a unique way, as if there was a hidden meaning behind it.

He didn't let out a single sound, even though the whole thing was annoying and he wanted to kick the door. He knew it'd reappear, though, which meant that he had to enter. The crew celebrated their victory on the tyrant Wapol from Drum Island and welcomed Chopper, their new crew member abroad a few minutes ago.

Zoro thought that a nap wouldn't hurt now, but apparently, the door of the toilet was behind the magical brown door, which meant that he got lost. Again. So he opened the door and stepped into the street.

He saw big and small buildings with unique roofs, stalls with food, jewelry, and antiques, people with colorful Tang suits, hanfus, and qipaos walking across the streets, and a lots of grass. At least the flowers were beautiful.

The fresh air was nice. But it was also mixed with the smells of cooked meat and floral perfumes. What a weird mix.

The scene was quite beautiful, but also very confusing to him. Where was he?

Do I defend the judo flip scene? No. But can I acknowledge the fact that it was written in a romantic context and Annabeth isn’t abusive? Yes.

The judo flip scene DID really tick me off. Percy grew up in an abusive home where people who were supposed to care for him hurt him and it wasn’t cool for Annabeth to do the same thing, even if it was just once. Percy could’ve been seriously hurt (let’s not forget how strong Annabeth is) and it wasn’t okay whatsoever, and could also cause trust issues and maybe even cause Percy to genuinely fear Annabeth. I do think it was very out of character for Annabeth as well, considering they needed to make a good impression on the Roman’s and I feel like Annabeth is smart enough to know that. It was a weird thing to add and I genuinely don’t understand why Rick felt the need to write it in.

But Annabeth is still human. She has flaws, she makes mistakes, and that’s okay. The fandom holds her (and lots of other female characters) to such high standards which is fucking dumb. Everyone is allowed to make mistakes and be a pathetic wet cat sometimes. It was an impulsive and objectively stupid thing to do, but damn guys lay off her case. Annabeth isn’t abusive, she isn’t a bad girlfriend, that was one goddamn thing. Literally. Yeah it was a big thing but she still loves Percy sososo much and just made a mistake. Please guys she was under a lot of stress and probably irrationality angry and just. FUCKING LAY OFF MY GIRL DAMN. There were very clearly romantic undertones. It was weird as fuck but it was still romantic. She’s not an abusive girlfriend. Chill out.

Yes, the judo flip was bad and Annabeth is at fault, but that doesn’t make her a horrible person. She made a mistake.
