when people tag posts "unreality" it's a signal to people who struggle with discerning reality that a (likely scary if believed to be true) post is not real even though it's written as if it was. it's also a filter tag so those people can opt out of seeing posts like that entirely. many people who rely on the unreality tag are psychotic and struggle with paranoia alongside (or because of) the struggles discerning what's real. posts that these people interpret to be real can lead to incredible distress and compulsions.

when someone tags your post "#unreality" and you screenshot the tags and say "what are you talking about? this is real" because you consider the post easy to discern as not real and find this joke funny you're actually just causing paranoia for people who now feel like they can't trust the unreality tag. not everyone has the same reality discernment skills as you. what's "obviously" a fictional story to you may not be obvious to other people.

I don't think most people make this joke maliciously. I think most people making this joke don't even realize why the unreality tag exists. anyways, if you've made this joke or have the urge to make this joke then consider not doing that.

Something that really bothers me as an intersex transmasculine person who was rmab is how often people try to act like I'm transfem or that I'll eventually be transfem or that I'd be better off transfem or that I'm transfem in denial. I am not transfeminine!! I am actively transitioning away from femininity, but people really like to ignore that because of the bullshit arbitrary sex I was assigned.

[link 1] - I was asked whether I was TME or TMA. To be clear, I fucking hate that terminology and find it generally shitty. But like, why would they ask an open trans man whether they were TME or TMA unless they thought there was a chance I was actually transfem.

[link 2] - I was asked why I'm transmasc instead of transfem when I have a penis. The answer is because I'm intersex and that has made my experience more complicated, but clearly there's some disappointment in the fact that I'm transitioning towards masculinity instead of femininity.

[link 3] - An asker was saying that you can't be transmasc if you were amab/rmab/camab, without even understanding what rmab and camab mean. They have never been in my shoes and do not know my experiences as a transmasculine person. If I'm trans, and as they said, "not born female," then I should be transitioning to female, right?

And there's about a million more irl examples of this.

I'm never allowed to just be transmasc. I have the potential to be transfem, and wouldn't that just be so much better? Sometimes people hear "trans person with a penis" and instantly think "transfem," and it shows.

this is literally not true. by this logic, non-passing trans women have privilege over trans men because they're """seen as cis men""" (not true! being transfem even if you haven't realised it will still have you being treated differently from your cis male peers, just like how being transmasc even if you haven't realised it will have you being treated differently from your cis fem peers)

Part of the reason why I'm so passionate about being against the whole 'kill all men' mindset is because it does affect me directly as a trans woman.

If you're the type of person who automatically assumes men are bad people, then I have news for you. That assumption isn't going to wait until I tell you I'm trans. You're going to—whether subconsciously or consciously—assume I am just a man, and even after I tell you I am a trans woman your perception of me will still be permanently altered.

Discriminatatory beliefs aren't going to wait for me to tell you my pronouns.

I grew up in Florida, where at the age of twelve I was a victim of terror campaigns telling adults that I was going to sexually assault their children in the bathrooms, specifically because of the reason that 'men are all evil.'

I went through way too much at the hands of those people to see practically every ""leftist"" online continuing to push that ideology. Unlearn it. Please. It directly affects us trans women, too.

I still, to this day, have internalized this ideology, and I cannot look at myself in the fucking mirror because I think to myself people see me as a threat, no one feels safe around me. As a direct result of 'all men are evil.'

It doesn't matter whether or not transfemmes are your intended target. You are hurting us just as much as you're hurting everyone else.
