Jamie gave a tired laugh at Taras’ words, before leaning his head back to stare at the sky. The little Pomefiore student certainly had their moments of wisdom, not that he would ever admit it. No need for his underclassman to get a big head, after all.
He seemed to sink into the bench that they were sitting on, fingers idly drumming against his thighs. The junior honestly looked.. lost in thought, unsure of what to say in response. Not that there was much he could say. He’d already chosen his internships for the next year- not for his own happiness, but based on the expectations his family had set on him.
He… hadn’t told them yet, about what he’d chosen.
A gentle breeze carrying whistling the echoes of spring. The rhythm of feet like marching with all yet no purpose drummed beneath feet. Excitement and fear like the moment before getting on a roller coaster tinged the air with it’s scent. Residue of magic swirled like smoke, barely visible yet unmistakable, making the blue of the sky all the more vibrant as glimmering stones and gems hidden beneath the water of the riverbed.
For a while, Taras was fine with the silence between them, their gaze to the sky as thought swam and swarmed in their mind, the little things all felt yet unprocessed going on around. Soon it would the start of a new school year, so much change in so little time and it filled the air like smoke in their lungs. But even the silence began to make them warry as thoughts subsided with the tide, ever present yet never truly away.
