Hi! I was wondering about how you characterize Kid Flash Wally in comparison to when he's older? Are there any really big changes in his personality between then and now?

I guess I'm just trying to understand the ins and outs of how child Wally acted. And maybe, like how the grown ups in his life perceived him.

kid!wally is noticeably sweeter. he's earnest, considerate to others, and very much excitable, impatient, and often times tactless in the same manner as any other preteen. the extent of his rebelliousness centers around the use of his powers to "escape" the drudgery of homelife, but is nonetheless commited to the promise he made to the flash to only use his speed to help others. he's also very conscientious over his position in other people's lives and tries his best to be "helpful" so as to offset his own burden. similarly, he's very polite to the adults around him since his inner dialogue is in constant strife over how he's perceived by them. "is he mad at me?" thinks baby-cheeked wally as barry very obviously freaks about him encountering a villain alone. he has explosions of temper, but they're not very common, and for the most part, he's the kid every parent wishes their own was like. in pre-crisis, he also has a vested interest in academia (this nerd received an award for excellence in scholarship in high school AND joined the eta pi fraterny in middle school), but post-crisis wally was much more hyper-focused on the flash, to at least some level of social ostracization. he's described as having his head in the clouds a lot of the time.

older!wally is more abrasive. his emotions are turbulent and it can be difficult for him to control them—in specific, with his expressions of sorrow, rage, and guilt—and he can be childishly unpleasant and overly competitive in ways that he himself knows are stupid and petty. it's not that he's any less inherently kind or attentive than he was as a child, it's just that he now has no problem with being an asshole just to be an asshole, and he puts his foot in his mouth a LOT because of this. doesn't help that he has trouble with being open with the people around him. wally also retains his insecurities over how people perceive him, albeit centered mostly on what barry would think of him, but steadily grows more confident in himself as he grows older. all in all, he's a romantic, deeply emotional man, with an intense devotion to his relationships and his mantle as the flash, but is also more than willing to take time to relax and play around.
