His chin is propped up as cyan gaze watches with apparent disinterest over the window. The past hours haven't been too exciting as the king saw fit to make him go through a process of trial and error in order to find the person he would connect with the most with the purpose of being the one who will accompany him for most of the part. Ranging from nervous knights to sages that didn't make any easy to integrate in a land that differs so much of his own, an entire day was spent of fruitless attempts of achieving what the king wanted for him.

"Is the kingdom always like this? Tainted by night?" No, in actuality, this land reminds him too much of the original locations that were embraced by the merciless dark tide. The positive thing is that darkness didn't ingrain itself too much yet, but this— this might be certainly what it'd look like in the future if it were to progress any farther.

It's just a friendly conversation.

That's how he's interpreting it anyway. Elijah stands at the coffee counter, having been intently listening to the barista recount their wild weekend away. Name tag David, now friendly enough to be 'Dave', rambles on with a twinkle in his eye.

Brown eyes. Warm brown eyes. Is Elijah staring? No. Yes. Kind of. He can't help it. The redhead is smiling intently, nodding along to the man before him. Tall, lean, brunette. It makes him think about Bob. And lord knows how he feels about Bob.

The same Bob, actually, that's already sitting in the booth seat by the window—Their usual seat in the small cafe. Elijah laughs at Dave's joke, instinctually turning his head to see if Bob heard it.

To his surprise, Bob is actually right behind him. Elijah almost jumps. "Bob, I thought you were saving our seat?"

FABRICS WERE THROWN OVER CIRCE'S SHOULDER && LITTERED HER SHOP'S CHAIRS. A groan of FRUSTRATION leaves Circe, crimson eyes narrowing as she tries to find a SPECIFIC dress.

"Where are you? Damn you," she muttered under her breath as she pushed racks of clothing off to the side. Her crimson eyes raked over the various details of each clothing item she was either pushing to the side or THROWING haphazardly over her shoulder.

Circe swore up && down that the dress she was looking for was RIGHT there, but it seemed to have gotten up && walked away while she wasn't looking.

The BELL above her shop door rings, her customer friendly smile immediately appears as she turns around completely. Her troubles were put on the back burner for right now, despite the mess surrounding her.

"Why hello there, my dear, how MAY I assist you today?" Her voice was SILKY, her head tilting as her ebony hair spills over her shoulder. "Oh, don't mind the mess, I'm just having a... moment."

He tried hard not to smile at the deal that was offered to him but eventually, at the end it, it split across his face. "Is that a promise?" He questioned with a lift of his brows and then an outstretched sweep of his hand towards the practice area that they were at. "Alright, show me what I need to know and we'll see if you think I'm hopeless or not." Rand already knew that the other man wasn't bad at adventures.

He scoffed at the supposed self-righteousness that lingered in Mat's voice. Of course he would take the higher ground. Mat was always a good man in the face of hard turmoil. George did wonder whether or not he had ever been faced with the decisions that he had been. A destitute family, an ambitious mother, a king to take to bed. The thought was one that he wouldn't openly share because it made him seem like he was taking some sort of higher ground. Although he did deserve the higher ground. He had purpose and it was all coming to fruition.

"It would be nice if you would at least see things from my perspective." he told him simply, evenly, as he looked at him in the eyes. "You should really tell me why it is you disapprove. I could make things easier for you here at court. You know that, don't you?" He bit down on his bottom lip wondering what he would have to do to get Mat to notice him in a way that just might be seductive. It worked on so many others, why not an old friend? "Wouldn't you prefer it to be easier?"

The first thought is that he's let Jesper get too comfortable with him.

He's made too many concessions--small and sporadic as they've been--that have culminated in this moment. The thought comes with the impulse to do something frightening. Something in this moment to remind Jesper of who Kaz really is, and what he's capable of, and after that, to rebuild a distance between the two of them. It would be easy enough to return to a time when one hard look from Kaz could make Jesper sit up straight and look away.

Kaz turns his glass in the ring of condensation on the surface of the table and sets that first thought aside for reasons that he won't think too much about now.

"And what is it you notice, exactly?" He flicks his eyes at Jesper, then away again.
