there’s a sense of peace that feels unsettling. it sits deep in his bones as he floats in the water on the shores of the jungmun saekdal beach. the sounds of chatter and laughter from the students could be heard from one end of the beach to the other. of course it would only be their voices seeing as the school has managed to reserve the beach for a few hours as leisure times for the students. it’s an ideal image of letting go. a result of letting loose after midterms consumed most of their lives the past week. even bogum himself came with the intention to enjoy himself, tucking all the rest of his internal struggles in the pocket of his thoughts. still his instincts find it hard to just keep loose even during this time.

even if he was only snorkeling in the ocean for the time being.

“crazy, how you can see so much underneath even though we’re not that far from shallow waters.” he comments, trying to shake off the feeling as he looks over to the figure he was talking to. “though i think we are a rather bit far from the group, i think this much drifting away should be good, right seolhee?”

there’s a friendly smile on his lips as he addresses her, an odd friendship of sorts struck up form unusual circumstances. it could be categorized as something forced in this case but to bogum he doesn’t really mind. he doesn’t wait too long for an answer when he puts his goggles on and submerges himself into the water.

it feels a bit surreal every time he goes underwater. a bit lost at the vast surroundings and the different scenery around him. and its a bit entrancing. although it doesn’t last for long. not when he notices something sharp pointing out from the bottom of the sand. it wouldn’t bother bogum as much. not if it was just him around this area but he remembers seolhee not too far and so his body moves instinctively to grab it quickly and reach back to the surface.

unfortunately he fails to notice his own surroundings as he pulls himself forward only to feel his leg cramp up in a sharp pain that leaves him unable to move for the time being.

he was sure that he waited thirty minutes before going into the waters after lunch. or that’s the last panicking thought as he struggles to swim up and get some air only for the lightheaded feeling to settle in and feeling everything slowly go black.
