sadflkjh so im a piece of shit bc i actually forgot until last night (per someone’s reminder) that this ooc blog exists. harhhar. which comes at the perfect time bc i guess its the appropriate place to announce a hiatus even tho i havent been v active anyway OTL

pls excuse my absence while i hunker down to study for my gre exam two saturdays from now (somebody kill me. quickly.), but i swear ill be back in full swing afterwards with revamped plots and everything ur heart desires. btw i just finished reading crazy rich asians and therere just sO many ideas.

sincere apologies to all the new bbs i havent welcomed yet, but i will when im back 7/17. in the mean time, hope y'all are enjoying your fourth of july wknd / belated canada day!

engulf

there’s a sense of peace that feels unsettling. it sits deep in his bones as he floats in the water on the shores of the jungmun saekdal beach. the sounds of chatter and laughter from the students could be heard from one end of the beach to the other. of course it would only be their voices seeing as the school has managed to reserve the beach for a few hours as leisure times for the students. it’s an ideal image of letting go. a result of letting loose after midterms consumed most of their lives the past week. even bogum himself came with the intention to enjoy himself, tucking all the rest of his internal struggles in the pocket of his thoughts. still his instincts find it hard to just keep loose even during this time.

even if he was only snorkeling in the ocean for the time being.

“crazy, how you can see so much underneath even though we’re not that far from shallow waters.” he comments, trying to shake off the feeling as he looks over to the figure he was talking to. “though i think we are a rather bit far from the group, i think this much drifting away should be good, right seolhee?”

there’s a friendly smile on his lips as he addresses her, an odd friendship of sorts struck up form unusual circumstances. it could be categorized as something forced in this case but to bogum he doesn’t really mind. he doesn’t wait too long for an answer when he puts his goggles on and submerges himself into the water.

it feels a bit surreal every time he goes underwater. a bit lost at the vast surroundings and the different scenery around him. and its a bit entrancing. although it doesn’t last for long. not when he notices something sharp pointing out from the bottom of the sand. it wouldn’t bother bogum as much. not if it was just him around this area but he remembers seolhee not too far and so his body moves instinctively to grab it quickly and reach back to the surface.

unfortunately he fails to notice his own surroundings as he pulls himself forward only to feel his leg cramp up in a sharp pain that leaves him unable to move for the time being.

shit. shit. shit.

he was sure that he waited thirty minutes before going into the waters after lunch. or that’s the last panicking thought as he struggles to swim up and get some air only for the lightheaded feeling to settle in and feeling everything slowly go black.

She's underdressed to the nines, tucking away the crisp white shirt and plaid skirt into the back of the closet in exchange for something far easier to breathe in.

Permanent solace is hard to find in a place like this, where they're kept on their toes by every pen mark bleeding red on white paper, schedules stretched thin by one more test, one more project; all assessed with a dry eyed weariness that only high school students would know as each weekly endeavor folds itself over to the next row on the calendar, rinse and repeat.

At the same time, temporary relief is found in the slightest of details: the sight of dusk setting the backdrop of the window in a dark blue haze, that it's a warm summer night without the muggy heat, in the cool touch of silk sliding over bare skin.

Pajamas and slippers, freshly pasted face masks, two glasses of wine — the makings of her favorite weekend ritual, one that she couldn't imagine sharing with anyone else.

Seolhee was on the other side of the room, adjusting the Sounddock. Sooyoung stood where the flutes sat empty, hands full with the two bottles — one topped with a signature red cork, the other with a body of dark green glass; smuggled right out of her father's prized wine cellar the weekend prior.

"Seol, which one?" She glances over her shoulder, waiting. "The Margaux or the Dom?"

The light was naturally dim, accompanied by warm hues of violet and orange. 

His shoes hang from two fingers as his heels dig into the sand, his toes curl into the cool bit of glass and stone while the breeze welcomes exposed cheeks and unkempt hair.

Though his eyes settle on a familiar figure, frankly he could almost recognize her from anywhere. Light brown hair reaching the middle of her back now, it used to be by her shoulders. Her side profile, as pretty as he remembers. Soft features that mirror the cool breeze, he used to get lost in her like the sunset. Even now, as he approaches her, he remembers how often he’d try just to see her smile. Just to manage eye contact, just to get her to say yes.

“ Mind if I — ” He stood beside where she was sitting, using a hand to notion towards the very spot.

Had it been anyone else, he’d sit down without invitation.

But it was Seolhee, his guilt and his debts surrounding her being. Even now, when he tried to soften his expression and comfort the air between them.
