Strolling casually had come to a rather quick end, as she stopped in her tracks. A herd of those dead things were right in her way, and there wasn't any way around it. Beth hitched her pack on her shoulders and swung the floor lamp around. Truth of the matter was she needed something better. This worked, but she knew it wouldn't keep her safe forever.
She took a moment, trying to count them but it was pointless and she knew what she had to do. There was no turning back, she wouldn't run from these things. Beth stepped toward them, the lamp held out in front of her as she moved with what little practice she'd had over the time since she'd opened her eyes in this hell.
She didn't slow as she got to the herd, learning pretty early on that these things went down pretty easily. It was just making them stay down. Swinging the lamp, she knocked several down and used the pair of boots she'd changed into to stomp onto their heads and crushing their skulls.
It seemed like a good plan, when she'd stopped to look them all over but there were so many of them.
A grunt left her lips as she directed the top of the lamp into the skull of one and yanked it out, repeating the action with another.
It wasn't enough, though. Spinning around, she then realized that she was not alone. Someone was close by, fighting off the very same herd that she was.
A person.
An actual living and breathing person.
Whatever feeling that welled in her chest was quickly replaced by the urgency to yell out to the woman. "Duck!" She yelled out and lifted the weapon back over her head for it to come down on a walker that had been right behind the other woman.
