Where: By The Pier
When: January 1st, near the end of the riot
Who: @replicaticns
Everything was finally settling down; and by settling, Jordan meant that mutants were finally fleeing back into their nooks and crannies. Jordan was trying to do the same. He never ever wanted to be apart of any kind of riot. These things were dangerous. All it took was one bullet, and he would be… gone. He didn’t have powers like other mutants; the only people they helped were the very people who could arrest him just for being here. So yes, it was dangerous, but now the coast was clear.
Or well, it should be clear.
But it wasn’t, because there was still someone standing out in the open, not even trying to hide like Jordan was, pressed into the shadows. Wait, not just someone, was that…. Isaac? Jordan blinked in utter confusion, wondering what on earth the other was doing gaping at the carnage around him. To make things worse, they were just…. Just standing by a truck that had clearly been abandoned in the scuffle and was currently on fire. It was less the truck and more the word FLAMMABLE in capital letters on the side of it that had his heart leaping into his throat.
Jordan did not do self-sacrifice. He was a coward. He wasn’t afraid or ashamed to say so; he wanted to live. That meant he didn’t go dashing out of his hiding spot to drag an idiot such as Isaac out the way of an explosion that would most likely kill him. There were so many things that could go wrong; he might not get there in time, they both could get caught in the explosion, etc. It was a bad idea. It broke Jordan’s code to live for himself.
But faced with the idea that his choice might actually result in the death of someone else, let alone someone as young as Isaac, he forced himself out of his hiding spot and dead sprinted the last thirty feet to grab Isaac around the waist and forcible shove him around the corner and into an alley.
There were two beats of silence, where Jordan wonder’s if he overreacted as he stares at Isaac’s bewildered face, before the ground shook and he felt a flare of heat against his back. Something large landed with a thud behind him, and he stood sharply from where he was unknowingly shielding Isaac form debris. He stared up at the large truck bed that was standing straight up and blocking their exit from the alleyway completely. He spun back around and cursed at the dead end.
They were stuck.
Fuck.
