bash was not someone who needed caffeine, he had plenty of energy on his own but it was a habit at this point to always get coffee, no matter if he was tired or not. and he was rarely tired. maybe his parents introduced him to coffee too early but it was always going to be a part of his routine. he was making himself a cup, asking rhys to make him some coffee seemed cruel. when he saw josh come in, he acknowledged him with a head nod before asking, “i’m making myself a cup. you want one?”

though he wasn’t ever exactly thrilled to see any members of his family, jessa was by far his visitor of choice, if he had any say in the matter -- which, he didn’t, not really, but at least he didn’t feel like jumping off the roof of the bar, whenever she walked through the doors. not that his parents had actually ever been here. he’d made jessa swear to secrecy when it came to his business’ location, paired with a light threat of blackmail just to make sure she never broke that promise. 

“who are you running away from this time?” not the friendliest of greetings, sure, but the mctavish family had never exactly been known for their warm welcomes. a glass of nothing more than coke and ice was set in front of his sister, a subtle hint without actually having to bring up the difficult conversation - another family tradition he’d yet to shake, despite being removed from it for a decade at this point. “a boyfriend? or his wife?”

It's your special day as you step into another beautiful and adventurous year of your life. Hope you stay healthy and happy and may you have an incredible year ahead! Here's to 45 years of awesomeness and may the days coming ahead make you shine brighter than before. Happy birthday, bud! For gifts, I wanted to get you a magnet that I thought would be perfect for you. It's a hiking boot with some scenery inside of it, and it reminded me of you since I know you love the great outdoors. Secondly, I got you a shirt that I think represents you well. I know that you are a top-notch therapist, but I know that you mentioned that being outside and getting active is also great for your mental health. I think this shirt is perfect for you. Lastly, I made you a bird house since the months are getting warmer and the birds are coming back. Put it anywhere in your yard with bird feed and the birds will (hopefully) be flocking towards it.
