@chosenfuture asked: " jesus... what have they done to you... " // rescue-related prompts
AS OFTEN AS MAKOTO MIGHT INSIST that he isn’t really all that special, despite the title the world has given him, he knows better than to think there isn’t some sort of target on his back. His role in the mutual killing game already cemented this after it was broadcast to the entire world, and the speeches, rescue missions, and more as part of the Future Foundation only serve to reinforce the Ultimate Hope that most see him as now. It’s far from the first time he’s been attacked for something like this ( with all the despair running rampant AND being known as the one who defeated Junko Enoshima, it’s practically inevitable ), but this one is different from just a fight. Instead of trying to kill him, they managed to knock him out. And by the time Makoto woke up, he had no idea where he was.
By the time Hajime arrives, he still doesn’t know for sure how long he’s been stuck here, too distracted by the steady ache throbbing at the back of his head where once warm blood sticks dry. It’s still spinning, enough for the figure to be a complete blur unless Makoto puts all his effort into focusing— or...maybe that has something to do with the black eye? Bruising litters exposed skin, and the blood soaking through certain parts of his clothing isn’t a good sign for what’s underneath.
They wanted to use him. Perfect ransom for the Future Foundation, and in the meantime... he knows he heard them talking about how they wanted to make him suffer— revenge for ‘what he did to Enoshima,’ to make hope lose.
Makoto tries to respond, but it comes out a groan at first, painstakingly slow breaths as he ignores every hurtful pang. “D- don’t w’rry about me,” He finally slurs, voice raspy, yet...with the same Makoto behind it. “S’a set-up, they’re probably waiting f’r you guys— I’m sorry, I- ah, tried t’get out. But i’ll be fine!— as long as I can do that...”
