Mon-El’s day job was stressful and noisy and, not infrequently, leaked into his night time, despite his ability to work efficiently and occasionally at super speed when not observed by bar goers. So when he had time alone in the peace of his lonely table, he milked it. He poured himself alien alcohol and relished in his comfort zone. He was hardly ever approached, despite his social butterfly nature – Mon-El always found calm in loud places in which he was able to drown out his thoughts and get drunk. It was for that reason his initial shock sets in as the brunette speaks to him. Or so he thinks. He looks around and over his shoulders – he’d been in that position, where he waved or answers to a person that was merely looking right past him.
“Oh,” Mon-El smiled at the realization she was just trying to be friendly, “Mine isn’t fake. Hi, I’m Mike.”
Her smile’s genuine, too, if slight. She’s had a long day of chasing dead-end leads and it’s left her feeling prickly and antisocial; half the attraction of the alien bar was knowing it’d be filled with aliens, most of whom don’t care a bit about human affairs and are accordingly unlikely to bother her. On the other hand, Sympathy hates drinking alone, so —
“You’re in the minority, then. Most people I meet grimace like they’re hoping I drop dead or just leer which, either way, seems like a real misuse of facial muscles to me.” She shakes her head. Anyways. “Hi, Mike. Sympathy Jones. You, uh — did I see you tending the bar earlier?”
Psh karolsen is the fucking best
IKR!? What is better than this!?
@nefariamn liked for a starter!
After losing the cannon and Supergirl being captured by the Daxamite ship, Olivia had returned to the bar. She clearly needed to be here to make the calls and she was seriously considering shifting into a younger form to complete the orders herself. The luthor’s had returned and brought someone with them. Mon-el, prince of Daxam, she was cautious around the boy but slowly relaxed enough to at least try to talk to him. He seemed somewhat upset, at least to her anyway. “Mon el is it?” she asked with a faint smile. “Mind if I sit and have a chat with you?”

“you know, it’s not nearly as fun for me when you’re on your phone when i’m trying to explain my plans for this weekend.” nina pointed out tiredly. she had some of her photos going up in a gallery this weekend and she was going to the opening and she’d been hoping he would come with her, but it didn’t seem like he was all that interested at the moment.
I wanna add that Mon-El is a character that's a wasted opportunity. He could've made a pretty kickass villain or even just focus on the fact he did grow up in a fucked up environment and it should've taken more than a pretty girl to bring him out of something he's known all of his life. I don't think a love as strong as he claims to have for Kara develops over night. That's such a big cliche that's turned me off from watching supergirl. I hope they remember it is supergirl's story.
