J A E H E E sat at a big table. Alone. It was nothing he was not used to by now, nor did it bother the boy one bit. Being alone gave him enough freedom to focus on his own work without any distraction. That day, however, he could not even focus on anything. Constantly, he was reminded that any given moment the person he was assigned to do a school project with could show up. It was an irrational fear and he was well aware of it, but Jaehee was the kind of person who’d much rather prefer being alone than having to talk to someone he had never talked to before.
The study hall was ghost-quiet. Most students were busy doing school work or studying. If one dropped a pin, it would resound more loudly than the quiet noises the students made. Unlike any other day, Jaehee did not follow their lead. He sat quietly at his table, eyes locked with the only link to the outside world, the windows at the side. It felt to him as though he was looking through a small keyhole to something bigger that he was too young to understand yet.
It was quiet enough for him to here that someone must have stood up, or entered the room, but Jaehee did not give it another thought. That person must have long forgotten him anyway.

“Eh ---- What’s the matter with all this ‘El Diablo’ thing?! Why is everyone going nuts?”

THE SUDDEN OUTBURST OF SONG MADE THE PROFESSIONAL PANIC. An awful sound roared from all speakers around him, but to be able to finish the job, he’d have to ignore it. Jaehee remembered that when he was younger, the kind of music that now roared out of the speakers would play all day and night while he was working. As odd as it sounded, k-pop helped him focus on his job better. He unplugged a few wires, reconnected others, connected an odd looking device to the main computer and turned to leave the room without anyone noticing.
“What are you doing there?”
His gaze turned to a female, all dressed up and in make up. She looked like someone who must have had performed just earlier or will perform soon. “I’m --” He held out a card just to make his story more believable. “I’m just doing my job. Check up.”
