Reese had met Olive while he was in the hospital recovering, she was helping the older woman that was in the bed next to him and at first, Reese tried to not pay any mind to her or listen to their conversations. Over a couple weeks though, he started talking to her while she'd be there early and waiting for Mrs. Dawson to return from testing or something and he found that he enjoyed her company. Once he was released, the two kept in touch and started hanging out. It was nice to have a friend that wasn't looking at him with sympathy in their eyes or walking on eggshells around him as far as what to say.
Out at the mall, the small child they were with was talking to a mall employee at the toy store and once Olive had picked him up and started carrying him away, Reese felt a hand touch his arm and the woman had told him that they had an adorable child. Reese didn't have it in his heart to correct the woman so he just smiled and said thank you before turning to go catch up with Olive.
"So, that woman back there thinks that we have an adorable son," Reese chuckled, shoving his hands into his pockets. "So you find that as amusing as I do?"
