━ the scariest part of getting shot wasn’t the thought of dying. it was the thought of never being able to see emery again. so, when jake came to - she was the first thing that he thought of. blinking his eyes open, he hadn’t expected to see lex rush to his feet and hover over him. “waking up to your ugly mug was not my first choice,” he managed to get out, his voice groggy. lex seemed relieved and jake knew immediately that he had been in bad shape and that waking up was a good thing. “how long was i out for?” he questioned and lex told him it had been a couple of days. the bullet had lodged itself right next to his heart and surgery had been risky, but absolutely necessary. it was a worse-case scenario and he had pulled through. “emery? does she know?” lex laughed at the question as it was comical to think she didn’t find out nearly immediately considering she worked at the hospital. jake grimaced, having not wanted her to ever see him in his condition. he wanted to always be strong for her. he fell silent and that’s when lex said he was gonna go tell everyone that he was awake.

Reese had met Olive while he was in the hospital recovering, she was helping the older woman that was in the bed next to him and at first, Reese tried to not pay any mind to her or listen to their conversations. Over a couple weeks though, he started talking to her while she'd be there early and waiting for Mrs. Dawson to return from testing or something and he found that he enjoyed her company. Once he was released, the two kept in touch and started hanging out. It was nice to have a friend that wasn't looking at him with sympathy in their eyes or walking on eggshells around him as far as what to say.

Out at the mall, the small child they were with was talking to a mall employee at the toy store and once Olive had picked him up and started carrying him away, Reese felt a hand touch his arm and the woman had told him that they had an adorable child. Reese didn't have it in his heart to correct the woman so he just smiled and said thank you before turning to go catch up with Olive.

"So, that woman back there thinks that we have an adorable son," Reese chuckled, shoving his hands into his pockets. "So you find that as amusing as I do?"

“Why was she there, Evan?!” shrieked Tamaryn. She’d held off from having an argument in front of the others because that wouldn’t have been cool, but now they were home she was in his kitchen questioning him on it. “I’ve been hurt by enough men in my time and I’m not letting it happen again. Forgive me if I’m over-reactin’, I just wanna know I don’t need to get out before it’s too late.”

━ “i’m telling you, bonnie. the merge… it did something to me.” kai had never remembered feeling this sort of desperation before. nor had he remembered feeling such regret. it was agonizing and as much as he hated it, he relished the idea of feeling human again. he had done horrible things to bonnie, in particular. he had left her in his 1994 prison world and she, in turn, had left him in the prison world where they attempted to break the salvatore’s mother out of. lily. despite being starved for blood, she was gracious enough to turn him into one of them - a heretic before the lot of them broke out of that prison world as well. now, here he was. instead of hunting bonnie down for trapping him, he was begging for her forgiveness. something he had never asked for before and he wasn’t even remotely sure how to go about it. “just give me a chance to prove i’ve changed?”

Indi sighed and widened her arms in frustration as she stood talking to Evan outside of his place. “I didn’t turn up at the lake house to be a nuisance to you and your girlfriend. God, I didn’t even realise you had a girlfriend.” Her head dropped; her own hands now tangling in one another. “I just- Facebook told me where you were and I just wanted to see you so much. I needed to see a familiar face, someone away from all the sudden and stupid fame.” Her eyes slowly rose, looking across at him again. “I needed to see somebody who makes me feel like me.”

His head was tilted downwards as he stood on her doorstep. Lucia seemed so wrapped up in Aaron and he didn’t know where else to turn. During their trip to the lake house, Oli had seemed more than capable of listening to him - something he hadn’t expected at the beginning of the trip - so that was where he went.  Kit smashed his hand into the wall. “Just open the fucking door before I-” He snapped his words quick upon seeing the door open to view Olivia stood there. If she hadn’t have answered he knew full well he’d have ended up at the casino gambling the last of his money away.
