i like to imagine that since harry doesn’t touch annaliese when he returns from the war, he makes up for it by looking at her. a lot. he stares at her often when she’s not looking at him, studying her, watching her move. when the sun hits her curls, lightening the dark hair. when she’s concentrated on grading papers. when she’s pushing certain food around her plate with disgust. he feels peaceful knowing that she’s real and in front of him. she’s here when he wakes up. she’s here when he’s angry at her, when he snaps at her, when he desperately wants to be held but can’t stand the idea of asking her to just try touching him. annaliese is always around and he can’t ever take his eyes off of her. he’s so overwhelmed by her
