Stories Of June || Shiftmind

It was the point in the day where it was too late to start on a new task before the monthly meeting and everyone was kind of dwaddling at their desks. Or getting up to take it to the break room, just to look like they were doing something.
Toby, sensing this could be his moment to partake in some bonding time with his colleagues, leaned himself over in his chair until he could see Shiftwell around both of their monitors. He waited a moment before giving a wave to catch her attention. She was sharp and young, no younger than when he had started out at a little paper just like this one, and he knew that when he had been in her position all he had wanted was someone to acknowledge him.
Of course, he still had that desire to this day, but that wasn’t the point.
“So, what’re you hoping for?” he asked, his chair twisting back and forth slightly. “Prom? Board Meeting? Graduation? None of the above?”
