blue carried his unopened mail to the tigers practice since as manager he doesn’t do much field work besides spectating. he wasn’t required to come to practice today but nothing else was going on during his day so why not go to practice? it was a cool day and the sun was perfectly shining. he made his way to his usual spot on top of the bleachers and placed his things next to him as he began to go through his mail. it was the usual mail. some spam. some party invites. announcements. but there was one that stood out. a letter specified for blue killian astor yi. when his parents adopted him from korea, they decided to keep his korean name but added killian, blue’s middle name that was also his father’s name, and astor, the family’s surname that stems for generations to generations. no one knew this name except for the rest of the astor family but they were all back in new york and even then, no one reaches out to him. the players were beginning their practice and blue debated whether he should go home and read this but since no one else was in the bleachers, he decided to open it. the sender’s name was ryu bo-young, a name he was not familiar with at all. who could this person be?
dear blue, i am writing to send my thoughts to you. i learned about the tragic accident that took your parents way too early not to long ago and cannot tell you the amount of sadness i carry in my heart. killian and sabrina were good people and i knew them well. this is not easy to say but i am the woman who birthed you. i had to give you up because my pregnancy came at a surprise and not at the right time. i have no regrets because i know that killian and sabrina have raised you into becoming a beautiful and outstanding son. i am writing to you and letting you know now because the world can seem like a big and lonely place without your parents. but it isn’t lonely, my dear blue. you still have family out there and closer than you think. i have a son, han taesung, who is about two years younger than you who also attends sutton university. i have not told him yet so i hope you can keep this between us until i do. i don’t expect you to be happy or sad about this letter. i just felt like i needed to reach out to you. you can contact me at any time or never. it is your decision what you do with this information. sincerely, ryu bo-young.
blue looked up and saw taesung with the other members of the tigers practicing lacrosse. he looked down at the letter and up again and yelled at the top of his lungs. he’s never yelled before in his life, not even when mother and father passed away. there was a burning sensation in his head, heart, and chest. he stood up from the bleachers and clenched the neck of his shirt. “what the fuck is this?” blue muttered; cursing wasn’t in any way part of who he was but he finally understood why people used it so much around him. his body was moving on his own and he left his things behind as he made his way to the field. thankfully it was break time and he didn’t even say hello to the passing tigers members but went to taesung. they haven’t really spoken, maybe a couple of hellos and small talk but looking at him made him scowl. without asking, blue grabbed him by the arm and dragged him away from the practice to the club room with all the extra equipment and closed the door behind him. with all the words in the english dictionary he could not come up with one so he let his biological mother do all the talking and handed the letter to his half brother that was already crinkled. “you’re gonna want to read this.”
