Tocchet is being kinda insane (positively?) #imo about Trevor was he insane when he talked about Quinn? Is there precedence for this behaviour or is this new and as crazy as it is to me as it is to you

I will confess to not being enough of a Tocc stan to have listened to many of his media availabilities when he was in Vancouver (not my bald coach of choice I fear), so I can't say for sure whether or not this level of babygirlifying his self-appointed special guy of choice is a well-established character trait or the product something being in the water in Philly. I'm sorry to be failing you in this department!

What I will say is that at least to me, part of the reason it feels a little bit jarring is that this amount of high praise for one Trevor Zegras feels kind of misaligned with the way he's been covered in recent years? Like sure, we all love to make fun of Quinn Hughes perpetually haunted affect, but he's a very highly regarded player with the credentials and performance to back up the hype he's getting. Rick Tocchet could've been writing and performing sonnets about how Quinn is the hockey gods' gift to Vancouver on the daily and I would've been like...well yes...

Meanwhile the Anaheim Ducks org was out here acting like Trevor having a nervous breakdown at center ice and quitting the sport forever would've been doing them a favor? Wild. He's really experiencing the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of being perceived as a professional athlete!

Are Tocchet's weirdly effusive media availabilities the product of his most beloved Quinn whispering sweet nothings about Zegras directly into his ear over the phone? Has Tocc succumbed to the Trevor Zegras charm offensive all on his own? Is there a secret third option that I lack the requisite context to figure out on my own? Who knows!
