“ my sister lives in vienna, and they can still smoke indoors. ” antoinette is antsy, one elbow on the table and her free hand poised as if she has a cigarette perched between her index and middle fingers. she ordered lobster bisque to start, and she’s been eating it so slowly, savouring every mouthful, that it seems like it’s her last meal on earth.

she’s only here at all because she’s waiting for adam; she has some gifts for him from london fashion week, and they said they’d go for coffee, but he’s running late, so here she is, sitting in silence, with bobby. antoinette presses her lips together and thinks for a moment. “ armando was wondering if you and adam would like to come to dinner with us. ”
he was wondering no such thing, but she’ll float the idea to him when she gets home.
