I should maybe write a true hc about this but

TLDR OG Aphrodite (like just before the Titanomachy) gave Zeus a love blessing (?) but it backfired and now the more (emotionally) intimate the relationship, the more likely it is for Zeus's partner to be driven mad by love.

You don't have to abide by this hc necessarily if you don't want to, though I will say that this doesn't force people to fall in love with Zeus or anything like that. It just magnifies what already exists.

Ares and Aphrodite were exclusively practicing unethical polyamory during their earlier years and tbh even after their relationship improved over the years, they're still on and off low-key toxic at times, though they're trying.

JK it's actually my preferred interpretation for "Dione" to be euphemistic to a parthenogenetic¹ birth by Zeus and for fun contrast reasons have that be the reason why Hera decides to have a child (Hephaistos) by parthenogenesis herself.

Not sure whether or not to consider it as parthenogenetic since it uses Phanes as a primordial font (will get into what a primordial font is another time). But also if I don't consider the birth of Aphrodite as parthenogenetic because of Phanes, I'd probably have to disinclude Hephaistos considering that Hera used Gaea as a primordial font for his creation. OTOH, Hephaistos is a new life whereas Aphrodite as daughter of Zeus is just a remanifestation of Phanes and Aphrodite Ourania.

Speaking of her "Aphrodite, daughter of Zeus" aspect... Dione the mother probably doesn't exist. Like idk if you want you can vaguely speak of her as a minor Titaness or as a name for an as of yet undetermined known Titaness, but I'm just as good with "Dione as feminine aspect of Zeus and thus a parthenogenetic quote unquote 'virgin' birth" by the big sky daddy Himself

instead, aphrodite brokers a deal with zeus—he can have metis and through her, his victory.

aphrodite would, after, be reborn as his daughter and eros would become her son by one of zeus' son. there would be no bed shared between them, no children birthed, and aphrodite wouldn't just become another name on one of the kronides' long list of conquests.
