though the tone of aron’s call was concerning, to say the least, wes had to admit that it was certainly a relief to discover his roommate wasn’t mad at him, like he’d started to believe. the other man hadn’t even had a chance to finish rambling before wes had started slipping on his sneakers, preparing to go check on him. he wasn’t exactly dressed for the club, but seeing as he was only planning on going to get his friend and bring him home, a pair of sweats and an old, stained t-shirt would just have to do. it took a little bit to get there - after a quick stop on the way, but he was glad to see that there was still three minutes until midnight, making him able to be on time for aron’s birthday. it took another minute of searching before he was able to find his roommate, but finally, he saw him, seated in a booth all alone.
“hey.” breathless from rushing around, wes sat down beside aron, setting a slice of cake tucked into a plastic box down on top of the table. “it’s uh... just from walmart, i didn’t really have time to get something nicer, but... we can go out somewhere tomorrow, if you want.” it had felt like a good idea at the time of purchase, but now, looking at the sad display in front of them, he began to wonder if it’d only make aron feel worse about the situation. “and you know... just because someone else gets the guy... it doesn’t mean you won’t. it just means... they weren’t the right one for you. you’re gonna get your happy ending, aron. i promise.” he’d make sure of it. @fckaronmorales
