she isn’t dealing with it 9/10 in a good way
there will be threads of her drinking and being Destructive
there will also sometimes be just Silly Drinking threads
but. it is still. Not A Healthy Thing.
and also i live for other muses ( WHO ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO HER TO BRING IT UP AND SHE DOESN’T KILL THEM ) who will talk with her about it. who will help her through it. who will make her realize that actually feeling her grief and getting through it is the better route and to stop trying to numb herself / forget everything
all of this said. i’m very tired of every joking little post about her drinking / i just saw a gifset that said it was her drinking “problem” in quotes and it is. a Problem. no quotation marks around it. also i’ve seen posts where its like “uwu lol her partner will get her drunk bc they think it’s funny” and i want to *knife emoji* because any partner of someone with a drinking problem will Not Feel This Way. there is emotional toll on them too and also being their partner should want the best for the other.
not to say, again. every time drinking is going to be Bad. which is also part of the problem. because sometimes it can be okay. and sometimes socially it will be okay and then drinking alone is Bad. it is very. complex. and different person to person. and specifically, personality to personality. and a lot.
drinking can just be drinking but it can also be alcoholism and that is Not A Good Time To Deal With. without or during or with withdrawals included. i’ve worked in bars for over five years ( 4 of them managing an irish pub Wow ) and have Seen Some Shit. this isn’t a good lifestyle, and people in it will usually make a lot of jokes / not deal with the severity of their problem or even recognize it as a problem.
on top of that, it is a societal norm currently and with modern times to make jokes about drinking and drinking a lot ????? like it’s very odd when you become aware of this ––– a lot of alcoholism starts in college and goes unnoticed because its just “young twenty-something college kids being kids” but like going to classes drunk always is something to watch and be aware of. making jokes of it normalizes it and then gets laughs for it which normalizes it even more and makes it seem okay to keep happening. being a “wine mom” or a “vodka aunt” or whatever Fun Title People Give and having bottles a night and it being a silly social media joke isn’t a silly joke. there is so much nowadays of drinking that is part of societal status that makes this all normalized, and leads someone falling into alcoholism without realizing it, and just making jokes about it. and then it keeps happening and happening.
it is a problem. there are no quotes around that word
