@rkmeiqi
—flyer!
it’s been a while since meiqi’s been back at this dance studio, but it really hasn’t changed one bit. there’s still the strong scent of sweat (which is understandable, since she’s arrived in the middle of a class), and the only thing different is the amount of bodies cramped into the space, limbs flailing in every direction. finding the girl she’s looking for isn’t hard considering her tall stature and the vibrantly dyed hair. meiqi waits for the song to end before maneuvering through the sticky bodies, flyer clutched in her hand. “hey, nayoung!” she greets the older girl with a grin, presenting her with the coloured paper. “i know you’re busy right now, but here. please keep an eye out on nova!”
the rejection from kt hit nayoung hard. she almost didn’t want to come back to her dance class with taemin, the reminder of her own failure ( though he really had nothing to do with it ) feeling like it might be too much for her to handle. she convinced herself that she was stronger than that, though, though she wonders if she had a bit too much confidence in herself. watching taemin dance is like looking down a long, dark tunnel and stretching out her hand, trying to reach her goal that keeps moving farther away no matter how hard she runs towards it. the image pulls up all-too-familiar feelings of anxiety, and she’s thankful when she hears her name and has an excuse to blink herself out of her reverie.
she turns to see a familiar face approaching, though the other girl looks a bit out of place wearing a coat and scarf instead of light workout clothes. “oh, hi meiqi,” she says, bowing her head in greeting. nayoung blinks down at the flyer held out, not fully processing what the familiar logo on it means for several long seconds before she looks back up at meiqi with wide eyes. “you got a starbright audition, then?” she asks with a smile. “congratulations! i’ll be watching for you,” she says brightly, taking the offered flyer.
