     “OH MY GOD. oh my god.” it’s a sudden burst of panic that’s erupted from arlo as he and nico sit outside at a cafe. he’s moving quickly, movements rather absurd and frantic as he grabs the menu that’s in her hands and he opens it, stands it up on the table, and promptly ducks behind it. he tugs her down with him. “nico, i’ve been known to, um... suck dick.” that’s one way to start an anecdote. “but not necessarily while wasted at eleutherios with someone i really don’t know.” this much is true— while arlo is quick to fall for people and doesn’t frown upon the opportunity for a one-night stand, there’s something almost embarrassing about his predicament with fabian de fonollosa.

“it was a lapse of judgment. i mean, fabian’s gorgeous and all, but he doesn’t even look at me. like, i’m dead to him. i don’t know his situation, like, i don’t know if it’s a case of being closeted or what. no judgment, but it haunts me to this day...” he peeks over the menu, then ducks back down. “i’d say it was bad and he’s pretending i don’t exist to spare me the embarrassment but let’s not kid ourselves.” he wrinkles his nose and glances at nico, then let’s out a laugh. “i’m seasoned. leave me alone. is he gone yet? mon dieu, i could die. should we pretend to be lovers just in case?”
