ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤIWTV SEASON 2 SPOILERS AHEAD (kinda) :
after louis du pointe du lac burned down the theatre des vampires killing everyone inside as revenge for what was done to claudia and eloped with the vampire armand to live happily ever after, something twitched amongst the ashes. the vampire santiago's cold dead heart somehow beats still. and, suffice to say, he is not happy about the end of this particular play. he plotted and applied the great vampiric laws under the maître's watchful eye but somehow was the one who got the short end of the stick! WHAT KIND OF VERDICT IS THAT? not a very fair one if you ask him.
screw the laws, screw paris and, above all, screw those fucking vampires. the coven he had come to love and call a family has been wiped out from the face of the earth and santiago is supposed to lay there and take it? no, no, no. he might be alone but he has a new purpose in life: revenge. from paris, to brighton, to edinburgh, to glasgow, he does a great tour of death in which he kills and steals the identities of those mortals who are dumb enough to confide in him. mimicking the lives of those he murders, IDENTITY THEFT is the least of the vampire santiago's crimes.
throughout the years he wears the skin of those he feeds on and gathers whatever wealth he can manage. and along the way, he is constantly trying to build a coven that will follow him and adore him as he once did his beloved maître --- except that's easier said than done. santiago was not prepared to mentor those he bestowed the dark gift upon. most go mad. some choose the fire. others are left behind, discarded as he once was. twelve to be precise. but a couple do stick ... it is far from being a healthy hierarchy but you don't really get to choose your family. fledgelings. whatever.
in the 80's his nomadic search for revenge comes to a halt; he sets base in los angeles. creates a small talent agency for promising young actors: SAINT'S TALENTS. not very catchy but still, it's something. a lot of lost people wonder through their doorstep, leave their contact information, tell a sad story about how they're all alone in the world living off some rancid winnebago. how they were hoping to somehow make it in the show business no matter the cost. the type of kids that go missing all the time. that's enough runaways to feed his new small following for a very long time.
it is not until the 21st century comes a'knockin' that he sees it: INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, a new book by some daniel molloy about none other than dear old louis. and in comes his voice through the airwaves, informing every vampire around of where he can be found and how he's ready for a fight. well, well, well --- seems like santiago might get a second act after all.
