I wish those scars would just go away. The slow pace of human regeneration is interesting to observe, the elves do slightly better. Still, scars on a child look misplaced and distasteful. Not a daring story to remember, a crooked twist of a story that began too early. Did you have any as a child? What did you think of them? // Orianna to Vernon
“I had MANY as a CHILD, but if you are asking me if they HURT…no. They no longer cause me any PAIN or DISCOMFORT. Living in the streets, in the SLUMS…your going to get HURT. Someone is going to try and PUSH you around…they are going to BEAT you…and if they think your WEAK they will do…much worse to you. You have to FIGHT back. Not ASHAMED of them…lessons. Learned the HARD way. Learned through PAIN and SUFFERING to push myself. To get STRONGER, better…to FIGHT back and I did. If I didn’t would have been just another DEAD orphan in the GUTTER. Simple as that. They are not MISPLACED, they are not DISTASTEFUL…they only HURT if you allow them to HURT you. They are only UGLY, if you allow them to be. If you got through your ENTIRE life…without getting HURT, MARKED, being SCARRED…then you have been PRIVILEGED and had are no doubt a WEALTHY sod. SCARS…are LESSONS and there comes a point when you DON’T get anymore, because you have LEARNED through the ONES you have…”
