molly n yasha's friendship is so important because it's rare to have a relationship full stop w/o expectation.

molly never asks yasha about her past or for more than what's she's willing to give. he doesn't make a fuss over her drifting in and out of his life and never asks her to stay. that's just yasha being yasha doing what yasha wants to do. why should he be distressed about that? he wants her to stay-she's a good friend and he likes her. he never asks her to, and she's always welcome to stay ofc-but only if she wants to.

yasha gives molly the same respect-she doesn't ask questions or press or judge him. molly likes to talk and move and make noise and be every bit ridiculous as he wants to be? sure. that's just molly being molly doing what molly wants to do. she's not bothered by it, why should she be? it makes him happy. she likes being by his side. she feels comfortable and safe with him. she'll keep coming back to him and his, so long as he wants her to.

they share some things with each other. and they don't share other things. and that's totally fine-just because they're good friends doesn't mean they owe each other anything.

they're friends bc they want to be friends with one another. they didn't have to be then and they don't have to be now. but they are. because they want to. because their friendship makes themselves and each other happy.

and i love that so much.
